Tisha B'Av starts this evening. On this day, many Jews fast and mourn over the destruction of the First and Second Temples, as well as other disasters that happened to the Jewish people throughout history.

In the photo below you can see what the Western Wall looks like in the evening of Tisha B'Av. Packed with people who come to pray and mourn next to the last remnant of the Second Temple complex.

If you're in and want to know how you can experience Tisha B'Av, or want to know more about this day, check out the blog post in the first comment πŸ‘‡

When walking around the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of , you might come across this beautiful wall painting.

Located in the Roman Cardo, this painting shows what the street might have looked like back in the Roman-Byzantine period, about 1,500 years ago. You can see the bustling market, the people shopping and chatting, and their livestock.

Can you also spot the boy who came to visit Jerusalem from the future? πŸ˜„

The Tiferet Yisrael Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter of was destroyed by the Jordanians in the 1948 Independence War. It stood in ruins for many years, until its reconstruction was approved in 2012. Now, the reconstruction is slowly coming to an end. Hopefully, the synagogue will reopen its doors soon!

Originally built in the mid-19th century, the synagogue was one if the most central Ashkenazi synagogues in Jerusalem. It was also the highest in the Jewish Quarter!

Have you been to the Jewish Quarter in Jerusalem's Old City?
