Dear Friends and Partners,

We are writing to inform you about a significant update concerning travel to Israel. Effective January 2025, travelers from visa-exempt countries will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) for entry into Israel. Having an approved ETA-IL will grant you permission to stay in Israel for a maximum of 90 days per visit. It is crucial to possess either a valid visa or an approved ETA-IL before commencing your trip. Fortunately, the application process for an ETA-IL is simple and expeditious for those who are eligible.

We have recently been notified that the ETA-IL pilot phase will continue until January 2025, as of July 24, 2024. During this trial period, applying for an ETA-IL is voluntary, and there will be no charge for applications submitted at this time.

From January 1, 2025, having an ETA-IL will be mandatory for entry into Israel.

We will provide you with any additional updates as soon as they are available.

From August onwards, travelers from countries that are exempt from visas will be required to obtain an ETA-IL (Electronic Travel Authorization) approval before their trip to Israel. The Ministry of Interior has introduced this new process to facilitate and streamline the entry into Israel for tourists.

To apply for the ETA-IL, travelers must complete an online application. Once the application is approved, a confirmation will be sent via email. It is not necessary to print out the confirmation for entry.

Upon arrival at the airport, travelers can simply scan their passports at one of the 50 scanner machines. However, physical passport controls are available if assistance is required.

During the trial period, which lasts for the first year, there will be no fee for the ETA permit. After the first year, the cost of the permit will be 25 shekels (approximately 7 USD) and it will be valid for up to 90 days per stay. The permit remains valid for up to two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

The pilot phase of this new system will commence on June 1st, 2024. Visitors from the USA and Germany can voluntarily participate in the pilot phase free of charge.

Major Airlines currently operating flights to Israel include El Al, The Lufthansa Group, Air France, Ethiopian, Fly Dubai, Wizz Air, United, and Air India.
In the coming weeks, several major airlines will be resuming flights to Israel. Eurowings, a part of the Lufthansa Group, will begin its inaugural flight to Israel on March 16, providing a cost-effective option for travelers.
Brussels Airlines will resume its service on March 24, offering three weekly flights between Brussels and Tel Aviv.
KLM will reestablish the Amsterdam-Tel Aviv route on April 1, with daily flights and an interim stop in Larnaca until May 19.
British Airways will also start operating flights to Tel Aviv on April 1, utilizing narrow-body aircraft and including a crew change in Larnaca for the return to London.
Iberia Express plans to gradually reintroduce the Madrid-Tel Aviv route on April 1, initially offering four weekly flights.
Air Canada will resume direct flights between Tel Aviv and Toronto on April 8, subject to stable security conditions.
Lastly, Bulgaria Air will begin operating three weekly flights on the Bulgaria-Tel Aviv route starting April 18, with intentions to expand to five weekly flights. Air Baltic will also reconnect Israel with Riga through three weekly flights starting in May, increasing to four weekly flights during the summer months.
