The Montefiore Windmill in Jerusalem was built in 1858 by the British Jewish banker and philanthropist Moses Montefiore. It is located outside of the Old City walls of Jerusalem in the neighborhood Mishkenot Sha'ananim. The Windmill was restored in 2012 with the help of funds from the Jerusalem Foundation and Christians for Israel from Holland. The Windmill was restored to look as it did more than
150 years ago. in 2018, the entrepreneurs Yossi Graiver and Yuval Klein, together with the Jerusalem Foundation and other partners, brought the whole complex back to life and it’s nowadays an active Tourism complex, offering tours, activities and workshops. The Windmill is now open to the public!
טחנת רוח מונטפיורי בירושלים נבנתה על ידי סר משה מונטפיורי, בנקאי ופילנטרופ יהודי בריטי. הטחנה נמצאת מחוץ לחומות ירושלים בשכונת משכנות שאננים, שם היא טחנה חיטה בין השנים 1858 ל-1876. לאחר מכן, היא היתה מושבתת ועמדה ריקה לאורך שנים ארוכות, עד שב-2012 היא שוחזרה בעזרת הקרן לירושלים ונוצרים למען ישראל מהולנד. לאחר הפסקה נוספת, בשנת 2018 היזמים יוסי גרייבר ויובל קליין, בשיתוף עם הקרן לירושלים וגורמים אחרים, החזירו את המתחם כולו לפעילות והיום הוא מהווה מתחם תיירות פעיל וניתן למצוא בו סיורים, פעילויות וסדנאות בנושאים שונים. הטחנה פתוחה למבקרים!.
