This November, you’re invited to join a special Jewish Heritage Journey to Morocco, led by Rabbi Debbie Bravo of Makom NY, a meaningful and immersive experience of discovery, connection, and culture.

Narrow alleyways, the scent of spices in the air, the rhythm of bustling markets, and the quiet glow of Shabbat candles behind wooden doors. A rich Jewish heritage woven with tradition, sound, and story.

Mitzvah mission - day 5, day 499 since October 7, started at Moshav Gilat with Adair, an Israeli farmer, and an infantry soldier, a real Zionist that his business was greatly effected by the war. We worked at the cherry tomatoes greenhouse with big smiles on our faces.

We then drove to Tkuma the site of 1560 cars that tell the horrific story of Hamas terrorists actions on October 7, as the cars are all shot and most are burnt. We stood together as Patrick Iluz, uncle of Guy Iluz z”l shared the story of Guy that was murdered and his body still captive in Gaza.

We continued to the Nova festival site to learn and honor the 364 who lost their lives in the horrific attack and remember those who still in captivity.

We went into one of the shelters, on road 232, where many tried to find safety but were either kidnaped or killed.

Mitzvah mission - Day 4 started with joining others at Hostages Square, as Sasha, Yair and Sagi were released from hell and returned home to their families. We were disgusted by the absurd show Hamas put on, and in the same time relieved to get our people back - what a meaningful morning.

We then went to the Anu Museum where we visited the October 7th exhibit and toured the rest of the museum.

We had lunch with Etti and Shiri as Etti sheared her personal story, surviving the massacre at Kibbutz Reim. Etti and her family were saved after being 35 hours in their safe room.

We drove to the Tel Aviv beach to enjoy a beautiful sunset over the Mediterranean Sea as we put our toes in the water.

After a good dinner we returned to the Hostages Square to join the weekly rally and call for the immediate release of all hostages. This was such a meaningful day.

We ended our day with a special Kabalat Shabbat at the Western Wall. Shabbat Shalom

Mitzvah Mission - Day 2 started with Tu B’shvat tree planting with Natur elementary school.
We visited the extraordinary ancient synagogue of Ein Keshatot. We had a homemade lunch in the most beautiful scenery, situated between the blooming apple trees, and walked over to view the Elal Stream for desert.

As we drove through the Golan Heights we saw some soldiers and gave them some hugs and chocolate, wishing them well as they were off from the Golan to Gaza.

We then drove to the Upper Galilee and toured along the border with Lebanon to witness the outcome of the war on both sides of the border.
We ended the day with a wonderful dinner with soldiers from Dvora unit who shared their stories of courage and challenge. Makom NY Rabbi Debbie Kaiz Bravo
