My exit strategy, post corona virus.
The world has changed. Tourism is still nonexistent. I still don’t have any work and none planned for the foreseeable future. My profession, being a tour guide, has taken a huge blow. For me it’s not just a job or profession, it’s a calling, my destiny.
Israel is now starting to lift the quarantine. There are still many restrictions left but most people can start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Even with restrictions lifted, the world will forever change. So in the name of optimism, here is my exit strategy:
Until a vaccination is created nothing will ever be the same as it was. Even with a vaccination I believe that some things in this apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic situation will stay with us forever.
After being under house arrest for so long, socially distant from family and friends, I strongly believe that the desire to travel and see the world will only increase tenfold. But leaving desire aside, people will be afraid to hop on a plane and travel to places unknown with people unknown. For me, that is the very thin silver lining on this miserable situation. People will now find it much more comfortable to travel privately on exclusive tours like mine, rather than hop on a tour bus with 50 people close together for a week.
But even my exclusive operation must adapt to the situation and change. So these are the measures I plan to implement into my business to appeal to my customers in a post corona virus world:
As many of you can attest to, I wash and clean my car before every tour and usually every day on the tour. Now I promise that I will also **disinfect** my car before every new group.
With a private tour like mine, it’s easy to recommend staying at small bed and breakfast places and small boutique hotels. This way, my tourist will be able to avoid the big hotels with countless people in your close vicinity. Some of these places you will have completely on your own and I will make sure with the proprietor of these guesthouses that they disinfect the place prior to my client’s arrival.
During visiting in the main touristic sights we will all take the necessary precautions including masks and gloves and I will carry with me a bottle of sanitizer always.
It is my hope, that with these measures, People will be able to comfortably enjoy what has become a necessity in life -Travelling, exploring and experiencing the world.
