Why is this Passover different from all other Passovers? Well for one thing, I had to make enough room in my bomb shelter for all of my Seder guests in case there is a missile alert. Pesach Sameah, Happy and safe Passover.

Last Year I took this father and son team from London to the City of David and other sites in Jerusalem’s Old City. They enjoyed the tour so much that when visiting this year with the their wife/mother they asked for the same tour again! This year I was also able to take them to the newly opened Pilgrims Road, which we all found fascinating.

Day 4 - Before leaving the Golan Heights and returning home we made a stop at Moshav Kanaf, a small agricultural community. We wanted to visit Scoria Winery and I’m glad we did. The Golan is known for its great wines and an abundance of wineries which offer tours and wine tastings. Scoria is a very small family run winery which I had never heard of. It was recommended by our hotel. The wines are delicious so we bought a couple of bottles to bring home. Well worth a stop. Next door to the winery is Azizo which produces everything and anything to do with lavender including drinks and ice cream!

Day 3 of our trip up north was spent in the Golan Heights. After taking in some amazing views at the Besaida lookout point we headed to the ruins of the ancient Jewish town of Ein Hakeshatot. The name means Spring of the Arches. This was a center for linen production before the town was destroyed in an earthquake in the 8th century. Archeologists rebuilt the synagogue from the fallen stones at the site. We then visited the Ayit waterfalls and walked a short trail at the Yehudiya reserve to see more amazing views. Our last stop was to Susita, an ancient Greek/Roman/Byzantine town which only opened to the public a few years ago. This impressive Christian town was destroyed by the same earthquake as Ein Hakeshatot. In 1948, during the War of Independence, civilians took it over from Syrian soldiers, therefore securing the Sea of Galilee.

Day 2 of our northern trip was spent in the Upper Galilee, and what a great day it was. We had a private cooking lesson by Savta Maha who runs kosher Druze classes in her village of Horfiesh. Amazing cuisine! In the afternoon we headed up to the northern most point in the Galilee, stopping at the Naot shoe factory and the Tanur Waterfalls before reaching Metulah. This farming community is surrounded on three sides by the border with Lebanon. Heading up to the Dado Lookout Point, we saw UN vehicles on the Lebanese side. We bumped into a soldier who gave us a great explanation of the area in perfect English which he spoke at home.
