“I’ve traveled with groups to Jewish communities in different parts of the world, and I can say without hesitation that this was the finest interaction between a visiting group and a local Jewish community that I’ve ever experienced.”
Rabbi Brad Levenberg, pictured here with his wife Rebecca, wrote those words after an evening in Glasgow, where the local Reform community welcomed Temple Sinai Atlanta into their home.
“It wasn’t simply a lovely reception or an opportunity to learn about Jewish life in Scotland; it was immersive, personal, and genuinely welcoming. For those hours, we weren’t visitors observing someone else’s Jewish experience; we were part of it.”
Jewish life in Scotland is small, but the desire for connection and the commitment to sustaining it felt remarkably familiar. A reminder that a community’s strength is never measured in numbers alone.
This is what we believe travel can be. Not only seeing a place, but meeting the people who carry its story, and finding a sense of belonging far from home.
