In May we commemorated the Holocaust Rememberance Day and I was very proud to find myself travelling with 3 amazing people with a fascinating story.
Imagine a war. I hate to ask you to do that, but imagine. Death everywhere. Everybody is suffering, but one group is being murdered just for being who they are. Your family is safe, Thank God, but only as long as you keep quiet and low and don't interfere. Look away and don't ask questions. Survive.
That wasn't the character or Júlia and Ján Trnovský. They rented a room in their house in the village of Ondrasová to two Jewish families, the Ehrenbergs and the Berglas, who fled from their homes. When the Slovak nationalists rebelled, the N***s invaded, punishing the rebellious Slovaks. The Jews had to flee to the mountains.
The weather got colder and German suppression more brutal, so Ján Trnovský went to look for his now friends and told them to go back to the previous hiding. Despite all the dangers, the Trnovskýs provided everything needed and saved the 4 adults and 3 children.
The Ehrenberg's daughter, Shoshana, got married and gave birth to Benny. Benny got married to Nadine and they have their children, who will have theirs b"h. The family invited Alena, Júlia and Ján's grand-daughter, Anton and Maria to watch the movie they had made about the story and just to... Enjoy life in Israel
