Tu b’Av (named for the date in the Hebrew calendar, the 15th of the Hebrew month of Av) is one of the lesser known holidays in the Jewish calendar,which has gained popularity since the establishment of the State of Israel.
It follows the sorrowful mourning Tisha B’Av (the 9th of the month of Av) .. and so with great joy Tu b’Av is celebrated (many weddings occur on this day) The day occurs on a full moon (of the lunar Hebrew calendar) ..
