Extension of Re-Entry Visas Due to Security Situation (“Operation Iron Swords”)

Following the official notice issued on March 1, 2026, regarding the extension of re-entry visas for foreign workers, and in light of the ongoing security situation in Israel and the continued state of emergency declared by the Government of Israel, it has been decided to extend the validity of re-entry visas that expired during April.

Accordingly:

Foreign workers who left Israel and received a re-entry visa (“inter-visa”) that expired or will expire between February 28, 2026 and April 21, 2026 (inclusive) will have their visa validity automatically extended until April 30, 2026.
• No application is required.
• The extension will be updated automatically in the Population & Immigration Authority system.
• Entry into Israel will be permitted through border control until April 30, 2026.
• This applies only to workers who left Israel legally with a valid visa.

Employers are requested to inform relevant foreign workers accordingly.

The authority emphasizes the importance of foreign workers to the Israeli economy and the need to maintain labor continuity during this period.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – FYI FROM EL AL📣

Following the authorities’ announcement regarding the expansion of the operational framework at Ben Gurion Airport, EL AL will begin carrying passengers on its outbound flights from Israel starting Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 8:00 AM.

In accordance with the state-approved framework, the number of passengers on outbound flights will be limited at this stage to 70 passengers per flight.

EL AL will proactively contact customers who are not residents of Israel, are currently in Israel and whose flight home was canceled, and will assign them at no additional cost to the recovery flights departing to one of the 22 destinations to which EL AL is operating recovery flights.

At this stage, ticket sales for outbound flights will not open until the assignment of these passengers to an alternative flight is completed.

Assignments are made according to the customer’s original flight date, similar to the mechanism currently in place for inbound recovery flights.

In addition, the company will publish a dedicated form for reviewing exceptional medical humanitarian cases requesting to depart Israel as part of the outbound flights, in accordance with the exceptions mechanism defined in the framework.

EL AL will continue to operate in accordance with the guidelines of the security and aviation authorities and will update its customers on any developments. To our valued passengers whose flights to Tel Aviv have been cancelled, Kindly refer to this notice for guidance regarding the current situation. please be informed that this memorandum was issued on March 1, 2026.
📣📣Please note that for foreign workers in all sectors who left Israel and received a re-entry visa that expired or will expire between February 28, 2026 and March 14, 2026 (inclusive), the visa validity will be automatically extended in the Population and Immigration Authority system until March 21, 2026, without the need to contact the Authority.

This extension is intended to allow the worker who remained abroad to enter Israel using the same visa.

The extended visa will appear in the Authority’s computerized system and will allow the worker to pass border control until March 21, 2026 (inclusive).

Important Notice!

Subject: Extension of Return Visa Permits (“Inter-visa”) due to the security situation – “Iron Swords” operation

Due to the current situation in Israel and the impact on air travel to and from the State of Israel, we inform you that foreign caregivers who left Israel with a valid return visa (inter-visa) and are unable to return due to flight delays or cancellations, will have their return visa automatically extended until July 31, 2025, without the need to submit a new request, and provided they return to Israel by that date.

Accordingly, any caregiver who left Israel and received a return visa (inter-visa) valid between June 12, 2025, and July 30, 2025, will have their visa automatically extended until July 31, 2025, without the need for a new application or submission of additional documents.

The regional offices will be instructed accordingly to allow the re-entry of these workers into Israel until July 31, 2025.

We thank the families of Israeli citizens who employ foreign caregivers for their understanding and cooperation during this time.
