Taking the clients for Sightseeing of Taj Mahal has become a pain in the neck. Especially on weekends It's crowded even in the mornings. It truly spoils the the mood. However, we guides are truly gifted in not letting our guests have the feel of this unpleasantness.

Approved Guides' Association Agra celebrated "World Tourism Day 2022" on 27th September. The event was inaugurated by our chief guest ADM Protocol Shri Himanshu Gautam Sir by lighting the lamp. Our Special guest of this event were SDM Taj Suraksha Shri Neeraj Sharma Sir & Deputy Commandant CISF Tajmahal Shri Praveen Singh Sir.
"Rethinking Tourism" was the theme of 'World Tourism Day' this year as declared by UNWTO.

Topics such as Importance of tourism and it's contribution in economy of a country, revival of tourism industry in post Covid era, Rethinking Tourism and the importance of Tour Guides in tourism industry were discussed.

Following were the main statements said during this event :

"Tour Guiding is one of the noblest & glorious profession."

"It's the duty of a tour guide to make the trip of Tourist a memorable & joyful experience."

Approved Guides'Association Agra express their sincere gratitude for the successful organization of this event and we wish all the best to the newly elected body of TGFI to work hard towards resolving the problems of RLG fraternity.

Dear Friends,
Approved Guides' Association Agra celebrated it's 76th Independence Day "Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" at "Tourist Guide Office" Shilpgram complex. The National Flag was hoisted by chief guest SDM TajMahal area Shri Sanjeev Kumar Shakya Sir & CO Taj Suraksha Shri Braj Mohan Giri Sir. SHO paryatan thana Shri Jai Singh Parihar Sir and Harish ji from India Tourism Office Agra were also present during the flag hoisting ceremony. The ceremony was attended by 200 + Guides.
Approved Guides' Association Agra is thankful to all dignitaries who graced the occasion by their benign presence and also thankful to all the guides for showing unity & solidarity to celebrate the biggest festival of our nation.

In continuation of "Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" celebration a bicycle rally with "Tricolour" was organised by Approved Guides' Association Agra on 14 August at 6 am from India Tourism Office, Mall Road to Shilpgram Parking via Agra Fort & East Gate of Tajmahal. The bicycle rally was flagged off by ADM Protocol Shri Himanshu Gautam Sir at India Tourism Office and it was ended at "Tourist Guide Office" shilpgram parking followed by National Anthem.

Approved Guides' Association Agra organised "Tiranga Yatra" on occasion of "International Youth Day" from "I ❤️ Agra" selfie point to "Hotel Taj Khema", Taj East Gate today early morning. About 200 + Tourist Guides participated in this Walk specially youth with full of energy and their heart full of feelings of patriotism. It was the beginning of the celebration of "Independence Week" announced by Approved Guides' Association Agra.

Dear Colleagues & Friends

Greetings !!

The pandemic has taught us all to be even more caring and more sensitive to the needs of ourselves. Pandemics are life-altering and therefore, define new behavior and shape the course of our work. What will stay unchanged are the humans and humanness. We have to build the right mind-set overcoming our fears & doubts by building confidence, positivity & resilience. Learning from setbacks can help us become stronger and more determined.

Guides are not waging a war but, have become vocal to establish justice because all other means of reconciliation with the oppressor have failed. Please don’t take this as a symbol of aggression or a tool to be used for aggrandizement, It is an emblem of self-respect and we are using it in self-defense. When all other means have failed, it is but lawful to use freedom of speech.

In the existing scenario with No Tourist arrivals, Guides are jobless and some are on the verge of starvation. Guides are already going through horrific times and are running from pillar to post to have both ends meet. Adding to their grief, Ministry of Tourism instead of helping the Guides of their own department, Ministry is pressurizing the guides to sign the Letter of Undertaking as a pre-condition for the renewal of their licenses. The manner in which Ministry of Tourism are playing with our identity and dignity is humanly inconceivable.

In my video I have tried to highlight some issues related to tourism in general and mainly the issues of Regional Level Guides of India. How the RLGs of India are battling for survival and struggling for their livelihood. I was also vocal in sharing a brief history of TGFI since its inception, and how few past TGFI leaders have played havoc with their own colleagues.

Well, giving up is not my style, I just want to do something that is worthwhile and something that benefits the guides fraternity of India. Last but not the least, *Do Not Sign The Letter of Undertaking under any circumstances*. Our case in the court is strong and we will get justice.
