KUTTANAD is the wetland/flood plain area that spreads in two districts of Kerala, namely Alleppey ( Alappuzha) and Kottayam. Both these districts are also the most famous backwater regions known for its vast lake, rivers, canal network and paddy lands. KUTTANAD is the rice growing region and it was once called the granaray of the state of Kerala. It is in this area the backwater villages are mostly
located and known for its scenic beauty. United Nation's Food and Agriculture organisation has declared KUTTANAD as a globally important agriculture heritage system(GIAHS) due to it's unique below sea level farming practise developed over a century by ingenious farmers. This is an important way of farming that would be a model to look forward to ( especially by the island nations and areas that seems to be affected by water/sea level rise) in these times of climate change and the impact of sea level rising. We take you to this important and unique land as part of SEE KUTTANAD tours. The tours are mostly cruises, to enjoy the scenic beauty of KUTTANAD backwater and villages.
