Engraving the Story of Buxa Dooars. lets begin with 120 years back... ...Further north, near Buxa, a cool air blows on your face and all around and above you birds with beautiful plumage whistle, especially in the cold weather and fill the forest with music which is only interrupted by the bark of a deer or occasionally the chatter of a monkey. - D.H.E. Sunder 1895. Buxa Fort of Buxaduar is a part of Indian as well as British History. The Buxa Dolomite Series of Sinchula Hill Range is coming under the Buxa Tiger Reserve. Aboriginal Dukpas lives in 11 hamlets of the hills from east to west along with Mangor, Sarki, chhetri n others. The age old Kagyu Pa Gompa (বৌদ্ধ মন্দির) & Finnish Church r the prime attraction other than the Famous Historical Buxa Fort. This is a Trekkers' Paradise n a hidden treasure for Natural history. The Highest peak Pam Tsey La (নেড়া উঁচু পাহাড়) measured 6250 ft having small vegetation of Rhododendron bordering India & Bhutan. Rovers` Point is named after Rovers' & Mountaineers' Club, Alipurduar. Rupang Valley is another high peak. Two number of moderate Circular Trek routes: 1. Buxa to Raimyatung 2. Buxa to Jainty (Guide must) attracts numerous Trekkers n Birders. Birds like Himalayan Griffon, Beautiful Nuthatch, Red breasted Hill Partridge; Penji, Blue bottle, Mormon Butterfly; Giant Himalayan Squirrel, Ghoral, Clouded Leopard are few names among the other rare Wildlife.
DUKPA, the Indigenous group lives here only. They have an Archery Competition on the eve of Losar (new Year), generally in the month of February.
