Nilgiri Mountains are the centre of South India's's principal tea growing region which has the highest altitude in southern India ranges from 1600 to 2695 meters from the sea level. The climate is so refreshing that the place has become a paradise for travellers.The misty mountain slopes are carefully manicured with tea. Situated in the southern segment of the western ghats, the periyar tiger reserve is renowned for it’s bio diversity. Declared a protected area in 1933 by the Maha raja of Travencore and covering 777sq km’ the tropical forest of teak, rose wood, and bamboo is home to Tigers, elephant, langurs, leopards, gaur, deers and antelopes- not to mention a rich veriety of birds and reptiles.

Nil Giris is the range of mountains which has the highest altitude in southern India ranges from 1600 to 2695 meters from the sea level.
