Most people know the Hornbill Festival as Nagaland's biggest cultural celebration. But did you know it was originally created to preserve the state's rich tribal heritage?

Nagaland is home to many tribes, each with its own language, traditions, music, dances, crafts, and festivals. As modern life changed the way people lived, there was a growing fear that some of these traditions could slowly disappear.

Launched in 2000, the Hornbill Festival brought these diverse cultures together on one platform—not just for visitors, but for future generations of Nagas to celebrate and carry forward their heritage.

Today, it's much more than a festival. It's a living celebration of identity, community, and culture.
