OBSERVANCE OF NATIONAL TOURISM DAY – 2026
West Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh
The Department of Tourism, West Siang District successfully observed National Tourism Day on 25th January 2026 at Aalo with active participation from various tourism stakeholders of the district.
The programme began with a welcome address by Shri Dikchu Raji, District Tourism Officer (DTO), West Siang District, Aalo, who extended a warm welcome to all the participants and highlighted the significance of National Tourism Day in promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.
As part of the celebration, a video documentary on “Galo Ethnic Cuisine”, prepared under the concept of “One District One Cuisine”, was screened. The screening was formally inaugurated by Shri Techu Aran, APCS, Deputy Commissioner, West Siang District, in the presence of tourism stakeholders, including hoteliers, homestay owners, tour operators, and NGOs associated with the tourism sector in West Siang District.
The documentary was conceptualized and filmed by Miss Chasoom Bosai, Admin – Arunachal Pallet, with due approval from the District Administration. The film beautifully showcased the rich culinary heritage of the Galo community, highlighting traditional food practices, indigenous ingredients, and the cultural significance associated with Galo ethnic cuisine.
More than 70 (Seventy) tourism stakeholders attended the meeting. During the interaction session, stakeholders actively shared their views and suggestions on key tourism aspects such as hospitality services, worth-visiting tourist destinations, rural tourism, adventure tourism, and the overall tourism potential of West Siang District. Discussions were also held on strategies to improve tourist inflow and enhance visitor experience in the district.
While addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner, Aalo, expressed satisfaction over the significant growth of the tourism sector in West Siang District. He further emphasized the need to improve behavioral approach, attitude, and hospitality standards, suggesting that tourism stakeholders learn best practices from established tourism destinations such as Tawang, in order to offer better services and create a positive experience for visiting tourists.
The programme concluded on a positive note, reaffirming collective commitment towards strengthening tourism development in West Siang District through coordination, improved hospitality, and promotion of local culture and heritage.
