In Kurukshetra, the river Markanda runs exactly parallel to the course of the Saraswati, as the government is mapping it ( while trying to re-create).
Surprisingly, the distance between the two rivers is only 2 kms.
Is it possible for two rivers to flow parallel in plains just two kms apart ? Impossible !
The old bed of the Saraswati is only the older course of the Markanda, which is nothing but the name of the beginning part of the Saraswati.
The Markanda joins the Ghaggar at Pehowa to form the Saraswati.

Why is the government insisting on ignoring the obvious? When it is clear that Saraswati flowed from Shivaliks adjoining Yamunanagar district, into Ambala district and then to Kurukshetra, then what is the hesitation in accepting the Markanda as the source of the Saraswati.
Especially when the migjty Pakhar tree still stands as a testimony to the Truth given in the Puranas.

The source of the Divine Saraswati--- the magnificent Goolar tree--- from whose roots springs the river --- is going to be dated by Radiocarbon Dating. The ancient tree thus may be proved so by this process , and the authenticity established
God willing it shall happen soon.

The mighty ancient Goolar(Plaksh)tree stands tall even today, as a living testimony to the truth as given in the Shastras. Several Puranas incl.the Mahabharata state that the Divine Saraswati appeared on Earth from the roots of the Plaksh tree in the forest known as plksh-prsar-vana located in the foothills of the Himalayas.
