A French Love Story with Maharashtra in two weeks🇮🇳

They didn’t come to India to check sights off a list. They came from France looking for a heartbeat and they found it in a small, sun-baked village just outside Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad)

It started at the doorstep of a local homestay, where the vibe of joint community spread and roasting millet flatbreads (bhakri) filled the air. They weren’t treated as tourists; they were welcomed with aarti plates and the kind of fierce hospitality that only a Maharashtrian household holds.
Then came the yatra.
Imagine the scene: the air is thick with the thunderous, hypnotic beat of dhol tasha, taal and turmeric powder flies through the air like a sunset exploded. Suddenly, our four French travelers aren’t just watching from the sidelines, they are pulled into the center of the crowd. Surrounded by pure, unadulterated spiritual joy, they danced until their feet were dusty and their souls were light.
“We forgot who we were,” Geneviv laughed later, wiping a smudge of orange from her forehead. “There was no ‘us’ and ‘them.’ Just beautiful, collective euphoria.”
That shared rhythm followed them right into the magic of Diwali. Together with the host family, they woke before dawn for the sacred Abhyanga Snan ritual, helped paint intricate rangoli patterns on the dirt floor, and lit clay diyas that chased away the dark.
By the time they sat down to a festive feast of fiery Misal Pav (tasted with a few tears of spice!) and sweet, cardamom-infused Puran Poli, France felt oceans away.
They came as two couples looking for an adventure. They left as part of an India. 🪔

We told them the golden rule: “You have to eat it in one bite.” 🤫

They came for the monuments, but they stayed for the Panipuri explosion. 🇫🇷✈️🇮🇳
There is a precise moment when a traveler transitions from being a “tourist” to truly experiencing a country. For our French guests, it happened over a tiny, crispy, water-filled puri on a dusty street corner.

What followed was pure magic, split second of sheer panic, a burst of mint, tamarind, and spice, and then... absolute love. 💥
This trip wasn’t about checking off the usual tourist boxes. We skipped the crowded loops and took them deep into the heart of offbeat India. From navigating hidden alleyways to sharing stories with locals who spoke no French (and very little English), this is the real India. The chaotic, beautiful, soul-stirring India that you can’t find in a guidebook.
Proof that the best travel memories aren’t bought; they are tasted, felt, and shared.
