My fascination with bikes began when my brother, exhausted from teaching me to drive, suggested I learn to ride a bike first for clutch and accelerator coordination. Little did he know he was unleashing a two-wheeled terror on the streets.
When I moved to the city and wanted to take my son on rides, my husband insisted I get proper training firstβapparently, risking me was okay, but not our son! Talk about family priorities!
That's when I stumbled upon Nomadic Soul Adventures through a Facebook ad. This company specializes in teaching women to ride, or as I like to call it, "How to Look Cool While Trying Not to Fall Over 101."
Sandeep and his merry band of instructors had a knack for turning riding into an adventure. They convinced us that balancing a Bullet on one finger was easier than balancing life itself.
During one memorable emergency braking session with Sandeep, I found myself yelling, "Side, Sandeep side... Marega... Side ho!" But there he stood, calm as a monk in traffic, while I performed an impromptu ground-kissing ceremony. His deadpan response? "What side side? Apply brakes na..." I seriously wished I had bumped into him at that moment. Revenge is a dish best served on two wheels, after all.
Each instructor at Nomadic Soul had their style and focus on teaching through practical lessons and less of theory. While Sandeep might focus on emergency manoeuvres, another trainer excelled at teaching proper posture and balance (apparently, "looking cool" isn't a valid riding position), and yet another specialised in off-road techniques, or as I call it, "How to Eat Dirt with Grace and Dignity."
What I loved most was their off-road training. Learning on treacherous trails meant I could handle any road or laugh at my imminent faceplants. Even now, when faced with a rocky path, I hear the voices of Sandeep and his team in my head like an overzealous GPSβ"Turn left at the giant pothole, then scream in terror for 100 meters."
Thanks to Nomadic Soul Adventures, Sandeep, and his crew of dedicated trainers...
