Chimpanzees are great apes sharing about 98.7% DNA with humans. They are closely related to bonobos, humans, gorillas and orangutans. They are one of the few animals known to use tools. Chimpanzees are highly intelligent and capable of problem-solving, memory and learning new skills.
Life in Kibale...
Nestled within the lush Kibale forest with towering trees and dense undergrowth -home to one of the world's most studied and vibrant communities of chimpanzees. Kivu was curious from the moment he could grasp the low-hanging branches of the forest canopy. His mother Malaika was a wise and well-respected female within the group, known for her calm demeanour and ability to navigate the complex social structures that define chimpanzee life.
