What to do if you lose your passport or stolen while travelling abroad?

Pointer:
1. Keep two or three photocopies of your passport and valid photo ids with you. Keep one with you at all times, separate from the passport, one in your luggage and one with your other travel documents. Leave photocopies with someone at home so that in case of emergency they can send you the same. Having them on your holiday make a list of consulates, high commission and embassy office and keep them handy while you are travelling.
2. So, now if your passport gets stolen or you lose it by mistake or it gets damages somewhere when you are wandering, you need to first report it to the nearest local police station immediately and obtain a crime report.
3. The next step would be to report the theft or loss to the nearest Indian Embassy, consulate or the High Commission of India in whichever country you are in. You will be required to fill in necessary documents along with the crime report you would have obtained from the local police station.
4. Photocopy of the old passport is not a mandatory document to be submitted in case of lost or stolen passport. But you will be required to produce, the previous passport details l;ike passport number, date of issue, date of expiry and place of issue, while filling the passport application form. You will also be required to give passport size photos along with the form, so it’s better to keep few passport size photographs along with you when you travel. On submission of the documents, you will be issued temporary passport or a travel permit or passport replacing documents using which you can return to your country. In most cases, if you are travelling to other countries, you will be asked to contact respective embassies and get new visas.
5. Losing a passport can bring glitches in your travel plan, but generally the above mentioned process does not take more than a day or so and then you can be back on your holiday as planned. So don’t stress if you lose your passport abroad.

Kappad Beach – Calicut Kerala:

Kappad Beach, situated at a distance of 18 km from Calicut city, is best known for sandy shores and historical significance. The beach is marked in the pages of history as the place where Vasco da Gama, a Portuguese navigator landed in the year of 1498. A monument is installed in the beach to honor this historical moment which contains an inscription that reads “Vasco da Gama landed here, Kappakadavu, in the year 1498". At that time Malabar was ruled by the Zamorins who warmly welcomed Vasco da Gama. The main reason why Europeans was attracted to Malabar was the abundance of spices and calico textile. Kerala is still one of the largest producer and exporter of the spices. Pepper cardamom and cloves are its main products.

The beach is a pleasingly tranquil spot surrounded by rocks. This beach is also known for its clear blue water, golden sand and its fishing hamlets. The place is bliss and attracts numerous tourists every year. Presently, it is one of the important tourist places in Kerala.

An ancient, 800 year old temple, on the rocks close by, is devoted to a local God in the vicinity. This place attracts a lot of devotees and visitors. Apart from the religious significance it is also known as historical and architectural splendor.
