From Lochs, Bens to Glens – Lowlands to Highlands and Beyond 🍃🥃
Our longest and perhaps the most memorable road trip yet — from Fort William through the breathtaking Neptune’s Necklace, the misty Falls of Foyers, and onwards to the legendary Loch Ness, where the winds quite literally blew me — and the car — away
From lochs shimmering under silver rain to glens stretching endlessly into the horizon, it felt like Scotland itself was in motion. The clouds gently descended onto lush green meadows, where sheep and cows grazed quietly, unbothered by time. At one point, I stopped just to wash my face in a flowing glen — pure, icy, and unforgettable.
Our final whisky stop was another favourite — Dalwhinnie Distillery, beautifully set in one of the highest and most remote parts of Scotland. Though technically a Highland whisky, Dalwhinnie belongs to the Speyside region in spirit. Ewan, our wonderful host, organised an exclusive and crisp tour for us, showcasing the elegance of this small yet characterful distillery. The whisky-and-chocolate truffle pairing was surprisingly refreshing — a perfect palate cleanser for those rich, smoky notes.
As we continued the drive to Dundee, the route turned into a painter’s palette — autumn colours blending with lochs and rolling hills. Every bend felt like the last, yet I secretly wished the road would never end. Two more days left of this beautiful journey, and already feeling the bittersweet ache of goodbye.
