Lake Naivasha, Kenya is one of the most rewarding places for a boat safari and bird photography experiences.

While photographing the African Fish Eagle, I guided participants to use a center focus point with tracking enabled because it’s the fastest and most reliable in fast action. Even with the subject centered, the composition still worked beautifully with the body naturally falling into the rule of thirds.
We also dialed in positive exposure compensation since the background was much brighter than the bird, ensuring we retained detail where it mattered most, on the subject.
