India relies heavily on LPG cylinders for everyday cooking. More than 300 million households and most restaurants depend on it. But nearly 60 percent of India’s LPG is imported, and a large portion of those shipments pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
With the waterway disrupted by the West Asia conflict, LPG shipments have slowed — triggering supply stress across parts of India. Restaurants, hostels and small eateries are already reporting shortages.
The government has responded by boosting domestic production and searching for alternative suppliers like the United States and Norway. But the crisis highlights a bigger challenge: India’s heavy reliance on overseas energy supplies.
For now, consumers are adapting with electric cookers and induction stoves. But the disruption raises a larger question — how resilient is India’s energy supply chain during global conflicts?

LPG Cylinder Crisis In India: Iran Israel America War के बीच ईरान से भारतीयों के लिए आई खुशखबरी |NBT ran Israel America War: Middle East tension के बीच भारत के लिए एक बड़ी राहत भरी खबर सामने आई है। रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक Iran ने दो Indian LPG Tankers को Strait of Hormuz से गुजरने की permission दे दी है, यानी आपके kitchen की गैस अब भारत की ओर बढ़ रही है। News Agency Reuters की रिपोर्ट में सूत्रों के हवाले से बताया गया है कि हजारों metric ton LPG लेकर दो भारतीय जहाज जल्द ही Hormuz Strait के रास्ते India के लिए रवाना होंगे। पिछले कुछ दिनों में देश के कई शहरों में LPG cylinder shortage की खबरें सामने आई थीं। कई जगहों पर gas agencies के बाहर लंबी-लंबी कतारें देखने को मिलीं और लोग घंटों तक सिलेंडर के लिए इंतजार करते नजर आए। ऐसे में यह खबर आम लोगों के लिए बड़ी राहत मानी जा रही है।
रिपोर्ट के अनुसार एक crude oil tanker भी 1 March के आसपास Hormuz Strait पार कर चुका है और Saudi Arabia का oil लेकर शनिवार तक भारत पहुंच सकता है। वहीं India में Iran के Ambassador Mohammad Fattahali ने कहा कि India और Iran के बीच लंबे समय से दोस्ताना रिश्ते हैं और Hormuz Strait में भारत को safe passage दिया जाएगा। वीडियो में विस्तार से समझिए पूरी खबर.
