Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced 11 projects worth Rs 696.47 crore to significantly boost the state’s tourism sector.

Tenders have been invited for all 11 projects, aiming to increase tourist influx and enhance the overall tourism experience.
Key projects include a Convention Centre at Dharamshala (Rs 161.91 crore), the beautification of Palampur and Nagrota Bagwan (Rs 95.50 crore), and a wellness center at Nadaun (Rs 91.42 crore).
Additional projects involve tourist facilities at Baba Balaknath Deothsidh, a rafting complex at Nadaun, and ice skating rinks in Dharamshala and Shimla.
Kangra district has been declared the tourism capital, with plans to develop Pong Dam into a birders' paradise and a national water sports center.
The number of tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh has increased significantly, reaching 1.13 crore by July 2024.

India has launched a visa-on-arrival facility for nationals from Japan, South Korea, and the UAE, available at six designated airports.
The visa-on-arrival is valid for 60 days and allows for double entry, enhancing travel flexibility for visitors.
This initiative is part of India's broader strategy to boost tourism and streamline travel experiences for international visitors.
The Ministry of Tourism has also expanded the e-visa program to include Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for citizens of 167 countries, facilitating entry through multiple international airports and seaports.
India's efforts to improve the tourism experience include deploying tourist police in 15 states and launching a 24x7 Multi-Lingual Tourist Info-Helpline.
