Good Bye Rockstar :
When bengali rock music was in its nascent stage in Indian part of Bengal ( it was the same time in early nineties when radio revived thanks to FM channels ) when one lazy evening in college canteen we heard his guitar; immediately got connected & became a fan for life.He was our Jimi Hendrix, our very own BB King all in one Ayub Bachchu AB , his guitar; his kitchen & his LRB.
Much much later, i was fortunate to get introduced & receive his love & affection. Way back in 2012 when CCHE was just a thought; Bachchu-bhai was our very 1st guest on his pilgrimage tour to Ajmer Sharif , other parts of Rajasthan & northern India with his children, bhabi & other members of his extended family...........; as discussions happened, itineraries drawn & revised, re-scheduled , further delay's etc etc weeks passed in the middle. As it so happened that due to sudden turn of events i had to leave my job ! only to start on my own !!
To avoid all murmurs, whispers & gossips i called Bachchu-bhai one day to explain my new avtaar so that he is not mistaken by my earlier "job profile" known to him for years & as he listened carefully about my independent venture.......he registered our very 1st booking even before our bank account was up & running !
Just a few week back we spoke about his next trip........... it was he who adopted me into his inner circle of "comrades" & we had long & night long "brain-awakening" sessions @ Wembley; Pasadena, Dhaka or Kolkata.....BOSS as he was fondly referred was always the main attraction on whom the evening used to pivot around.............& he just rocked...........my friend & philosopher...................how do i forget hundreds patiently waiting at wee hours outside my Dhaka WestIn room without a single murmur being heard, only to get a prized autograph which you gladly obliged even under severe physical discomfort.
Ayub Bachchu you would be badly missed & remembered; signing off what you always said," দোয়া করবেন.....the show must go on"
