A dedicated one-stop centre for issuing permissions to public Ganeshotsav mandals is now operational at the Police Commissioner’s Office in Belagavi. The centre commenced operations on August 1, 2025, and functions daily from 2 PM to 8 PM, offering all necessary clearances under one roof.

Officials from key departments such as the Belagavi City Corporation, HESCOM (Hubli Electricity Supply Company), and the Public Works Department (PWD) are present at the centre to provide approvals related to pandal er****on, electricity connections, sound systems, and other festival-related arrangements.

This initiative aims to simplify and fast-track the approval process for Ganeshotsav organizers, eliminating the need to visit multiple offices. It is part of the administration’s effort to ensure safe, lawful, and well-coordinated public celebrations across the city.

Authorities have urged all mandal organizers to take advantage of the facility and complete the permission process in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.

💔 4-Year-Old Apeksha Rathod Needs Immediate Open-Heart Surgery – Your Help Can Save Her Life

Apeksha Kishan Rathod, a 4-year-old girl from a humble family in Vinayaknagar, Belagavi, is in urgent need of life-saving heart surgery. Apeksha has been unwell since infancy and was previously operated on, but her condition has not improved.

Recent tests at Prabhakar Kore Hospital revealed a serious defect in her heart valve, and doctors have advised immediate Redo MVR (Open-Heart Surgery). The estimated cost of the surgery is around ₹3 to ₹4 lakhs, an amount far beyond what her family can afford.

Her father, Kishan Rathod, works as a daily-wage laborer in Camp, Belagavi. Originally from Bagalkot, the Rathod family has been residing in Belagavi for over 20 years and is now appealing for public support to save their daughter’s life.

We humbly request kind-hearted individuals, NGOs, and social workers to extend a helping hand. Every contribution, big or small, can bring Apeksha closer to recovery.

The water level of the Krishna River has been steadily increasing, leading to fears of possible flooding in parts of Belagavi district. Due to continuous rainfall in the region and in Maharashtra's upper areas, the inflow into the river has grown significantly.

Authorities have issued alerts in low-lying villages near the river and are closely monitoring the situation. Locals have been advised to stay cautious as the water level continues to rise. The district administration is also preparing for any emergency response if the situation worsens.

The Karnataka Public Works Department (PWD) has approved a ₹72 crore project to widen the road from Nilji to Sambra Airport into a four-lane road. The current road is narrow and often causes traffic congestion for airport travellers. The upgraded 4-kilometre road will have a divider, footpaths, and streetlights. Out of the total cost, ₹17 crore will be used for land acquisition and ₹55 crore for construction.

PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi said the project will move quickly, with land acquisition completed in three weeks and tenders issued in a month. The road work is expected to finish in 4–5 months and may be inaugurated in the winter session of the Karnataka Legislature in December 2025. Plans are also being made for a flyover to connect the airport directly to the city within the next two years.

The construction of the Belagavi Ring Road has been delayed due to the pending forest clearance required for the project. Phase I of the project, which involves the development of a 34.5-kilometre road around the city, has been approved with a budget allocation of ₹1,622 crore. However, the project requires diversion of approximately 27.3 hectares of reserved forest land across several villages, including Honaga, Kakati, Sonatti, Kanabargi, and Kalakhamb.

According to reports, the state forest department had submitted an inspection report and recommended the land diversion earlier this year. However, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has sought further clarification after concerns were raised regarding forest data. A revised factual report was requested by June 10, 2025, but it has not yet been submitted. The project will move forward once all necessary permissions and clearances are completed as per applicable laws and procedures.

In an effort to promote non-conventional energy sources, eight villages in Belagavi district have been selected under the Greenfield Energy Corridor project. As part of this initiative, 110kV power substations and solar power projects will be established in these villages.
This decision was made during a meeting of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) held in Bengaluru on July 3, and the same was informed to the managing director (technical) of Hubli Electricity Supply Company on Saturday.
The eight villages are Appachiwadi (Nippani taluk), Pamaladinni (Gokak taluk), Saundatti Jackwell (Saundatti taluk), Ganikoppa (Bailhongal taluk), PY Hunashyal (Mudalagi taluk), Muragod (Saundatti taluk), Paschhapur (Hukkeri taluk) and Kenchanahatti (Belagavi taluk) have been selected for the scheme, according to a statement issued by district minister Satish Jarkiholi.
The scheme will be implemented across two phases in Karnataka. These eight substations in Belagavi are part of Phase 2, which has a total estimated cost of Rs 1,036 crore. Through this, KPTCL aims to establish a Green Energy Corridor in the state, supporting the generation of non-conventional energy, especially solar and wind power.
Once the new substations are operational, the load on existing substations is expected to reduce significantly. With rising electricity demand due to an increase in electric pumps and other reasons, the new substations will help meet the increased power needs.

At least 24 students from the Government Higher Primary School in Markandeya Nagar, Belagavi, were hospitalised on Tuesday after consuming the mid-day meal served at school.

Soon after lunch, several children began complaining of stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Teachers immediately rushed them to nearby private hospitals. As the number of sick students increased, ambulances were called to shift some to the district hospital.

Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Leelavathi Hiremath and District Health Officer Dr. Ishwar Gadadi visited the hospital to check on the students' condition. Officials confirmed that all students are now stable and out of danger.

Preliminary investigation has raised suspicion that a lizard may have fallen into the food during preparation. The meal was reportedly cooked by a local Stree Shakti self-help group.

Laxmanrao Yakkundi, Education Officer of the PM Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana, stated that a detailed inquiry is underway and strict action will be taken against those responsible.
