Gram Vikas High School -Residential, Kankia Gram Vikas High school,(Residential)Kankia is home for 555 kids from class I to X. There are 550+ students are studying here.

Gram Vikas High school, Kankia is a model for formal education of both boys and girls from Class I to Class X. This is, especially, true for Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste children though there are a few students here who belong to General Castes. Most of the students come from the backward communities in Ganjam, Gajapati and Kalahandi districts. The patience, devotion, and supportive environ

ment created by the teachers here for their wards are remarkable despite the many challenges the school faces. Gram Vikas High School has been established in 1982 with the vision of providing effective education at an affordable price to the masses. We aim at creating rational minds and empowering them with the skills required to earn their livelihood and live a dignified life. At Gram Vikas Residential School, we believe that a fun-filled, interactive and free environment can bring out the best in the student and can help her/ him to become an independent, self reliant and innovative individual rather than be a follower only. We work to make learning an unforgettable experience for the students by including activity based learning in our schools right from the primary level. The Objective of the School is to empower the students with knowledge, value system, and technology. This would lead to holistic development of each child. We also provide maximum scope and balanced opportunity towards physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural development of each child. We focus on inculcating the values that prove foundational towards their integration into society and towards their becoming responsible citizens of the future.

Nurturing Tribal Talent, Building Champions

At Gram Vikas High School, Kankia, Ganjam, we believe in transforming lives through holistic education—where academic learning is empowered by robust support for extracurricular excellence. Our mission goes beyond the classroom: to identify hidden potential, nurture talent, and build a future where every child from a tribal background has the opportunity to shine.

Today, we proudly celebrate three exceptional students whose inspiring journeys in weightlifting are a testament to this vision: Ms. Tiki Mohini Mallik, Ms. Jyoshna Sabar, and Mr. Sanatan Mallik.

🔹 Tiki Mohini Mallik, daughter of Mr. Maguni Mallik and Ms. Nila Mallik from Malakutapalli Village, Digapahandi Block, began her education at Gram Vikas High School, Kankia. Though academically average, her athletic potential quickly stood out. After receiving foundational training at our school, she progressed to the High Performance Centre (HPC), Bhubaneswar, under elite coaching by TENVIC. Her efforts earned her the Khelo India Award, and she is now undergoing advanced training at the National Camp in Patiala, preparing for the Commonwealth Games 2025-26.

🔹 Jyoshna Sabar, another extraordinary talent from the same school, has made a mark on both national and international platforms. She is a Four-times International Medalist, with achievements in the Asian Championship, Commonwealth Championship, and World Championship (twice). In addition, she holds five National-Level Awards and was recently named Best Lifter of India—a remarkable honor reflecting her dedication, resilience, and skills.

🔹 Adding further to this legacy, Mr. Sanatan Mallik—Tiki Mohini’s elder brother—also began his journey at Gram Vikas High School, Kankia. He has won accolades at both the School National and College National levels, becoming yet another role model for aspiring athletes in our community.

These inspiring achievements are not only the result of the students' hard work, but also the vision and commitment of our school leadership under the guidance of Sri Debendra Nath Dash, Principal of Gram Vikas High School, Kankia, and the support of the Gram Vikas School Management, our institution continues to provide a platform where dreams take flight. A special mention goes to Mr. Ramesh Chandra Padhy, the first coach who recognized and nurtured the early potential of both Tiki Mohini Mallik and Jyoshna Sabar—helping lay the foundation for their extraordinary success.

We are proud to say: Gram Vikas is not just educating students—it is empowering champions.
