Talakona waterfalls are situated in Sri Venkateswara National Park in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh state. With a height of 270 feet, it is the tallest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh. At a distance of 49 KM from Tirupathi, 220 KM from Chennai and 105 Kms from Chittore, Talakona Falls are situated at a distance of 23 KM from Bakarapeta which is the nearest town. The waterfalls are placed amidst

dense forest surrounded by natural beauty and greenery. It is believed that the water of Talakona Falls is enriched with herbs wit healing powers. Talakona was declared as Bio-Sphere Reserve in 1989-90 because of wide variety of plant species present in the region. Talakona means 'head hill' in Telugu. This place is believed to be the starting point of 'Seshachalam Hills' which are extended till Tirumala. There is a temple near the falls called Lord Siddeswara Swamy Temple. This temple is believed to be built by a devotee named Appa Swamy in 1811 AD. This Temple Attracts large number of devotees during Mahashivaratri. The falls have to be reached by 2 Kms trek from Siddeswara Swamy Temple which is nearest motorable road to the falls. The duration of the trek is about 30 minutes (one way) through dense forest and slippery road. November to January is the best season to visit. There are several private transport facilities to Talakona Falls from Bakarapeta, which has direct bus services from Tirupati and Chittore.

మొదటి రోజు ఉదయం ఆలయం సమీపంలోని పుట్ట కి పసుపు,కుంకుమ ,గంధ పుష్పాలతో పూజించి మృత్యుంసంగ్రహనం గావించి ఆలయ యాగశాలలో గణపతి పూజ,స్వస్తి పుణ్యాహ వాచకం ,మంటపారాధన ,నవగ్రహ, అష్టదిక్పాలక ,నక్షత్ర సహిత ప్రధాన దేవి దేవతల ఆవాహన ఆరాధనలు జరిగాయి.తదుపరి హోమ కార్యక్రమాలతో మొదటి రోజు కార్యక్రమాలు ప్రారంభం అయ్యాయి.
సాయంకాలం నందీశ్వరునికి పంచామృతాలతో అభిషేకించి విశేష వస్త్ర ఫల పుష్పాలతో అలంకరించారు.తదుపరి అంగరంగ వైభవంగా ద్వజారోహనం కార్యక్రమం జరిగింది.ఈ కార్యక్రమాలు ఆలయ ముఖ్య అర్చకులు బ్రహ్మశ్రీ శివ ప్రసన్న శర్మ ,అర్చకులు ప్రసాద్ శర్మ గారి ఆధ్వర్యంలో వేదపండితుల సహకారంలో ,ఆలయ కార్యనిర్వణాధికారి జయ కుమార్ మరియు ఆలయ ధర్మకర్తల మండలి అధ్యక్షులు రెడ్డప్ప రెడ్డి గారు మరియు ధర్మకర్తల మండలి సభ్యుల ప్రత్యక్ష పర్యవేక్షణలో జరుగుతున్నాయి.ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో భక్తులు పాల్గొని దేవదేవుని అనుగ్రహము కొరకు తమవంతు సహాయ కార్యక్రమాలు అందించి శివయ్య దర్శనం చేసుకున్నారు.

శివుడి గురించి తెలుసుకోవాల్సిన మరిన్ని రహస్యాలు.

త్రిమూర్తులలో ఒకరు పరమశివుడు అయన కైలాస అధిపతి. ఈయనను శంకరుడు, త్రినేత్రుడు, లయకారుడు, అర్ధనారీశ్వరుడు ఇలా అనేక రకాల పేర్లతో కొలుస్తారు. శివ అంటే సంస్కృతంలో స్వచ్ఛమైనది అని అర్ధం. శివుడి గురించి అనేక పురాణ కథలు వెలుగులో ఉన్నాయి. అయితే శివుడి గురించి తెలుసుకోవాల్సిన మరిన్ని రహస్యాలను మనం ఇప్పుడు తెలుసుకుందాం.

అనేక పురాణాలు, కథలు, శివ పురాణంలో శివుడి కూతుళ్ల గురించి ప్రస్తావించారు. శివపురాణంలోని రుద్ర సంహితలో శివుడి కూతుళ్ల గురించి ప్రస్తావించారు. శివుడికి అశోక సుందరి, జ్యోతి, మానస అనే ముగ్గురు కూతుళ్లు ఉన్నారు.

శివుడిని చూడగానే మనకి కొన్ని గుర్తుకు వస్తాయి. అవి ఏంటి అంటే చేతిలో త్రిశూలం, మెడలో పాము, డమరుకం, అర్ధచంద్రాకార నెలవంక మరియు నంది.

*త్రిశూలం:*

Trisulam
శివుడు ఎంచుకున్న ఆయుధమే త్రిశూలం. త్రిశూలం యొక్క మూడు కోనలు కోరిక, చర్య మరియు జ్ఞానం యొక్క మూడు శక్తులను సూచిస్తాయి.

*నెలవంక:*

Lord Shiva
నెలవంక చంద్రుడు శివుడిని తరచుగా తన ‘జటా’ ఒక అర్ధచంద్రాకార చంద్రుని కళా రూపాలతో చిత్రీకరించారు. చంద్రుడు వృద్ది చెందటం మరియు తగ్గిపోవటం అనేది ప్రకృతి యొక్క అత్యంత శాశ్వతమైన చక్రాన్ని సూచిస్తుంది. హిందూ మతం క్యాలెండర్ ఈ ప్రక్రియపై ఆధారపడి ఉంటుంది

*పాము:*

Lord Shiva
శివుడు ఆయన మెడ చుట్టూ 3 సార్లు చుట్టబడిన ఒక పామును ధరిస్తారు. పాము యొక్క 3 చుట్టలు భూత,వర్తమాన,భవిష్యత్తు కాలాలను సూచిస్తాయి. పాము హిందువులు పూజించే పవిత్రమైన ప్రాణిగా చెప్పవచ్చు.

*డమరుకం:*

Damarukam
శివునితో సంబంధం కలిగిన ఒక చిన్న డ్రమ్ వంటి వాయిద్యం. శివ కళాత్మక అభివృద్ధి స్వాధీన సమయంలో డమరుకం యొక్క లయతో నాట్యం చేస్తారు.

*నంది:*

Nandi
శివునికి అతి దగ్గరలో ఉన్న ఆప్తమిత్రులలో ఒకటి. ఎందుకంటే నంది అన్ని శివాలయాల వెలుపల ఉంచబడుతుంది. శివ భక్తులు తమ కోరికలను శివునికి విన్నవించమని నంది చెవుల వద్ద గుసగుసగా చెప్పుకుంటారు.

*మూడో కన్ను:*

శివుని యొక్క చిహ్నాలలో ఒకటిగా మూడో కన్నును చెప్పవచ్చు. ఆయన నుదుటిపైన మధ్యభాగంలో మూడో కన్ను ఉంటుంది. అయన చాలా కోపంతో మరియు చెడు నాశనం కోరుకున్నప్పుడు మాత్రమే మూడో కన్ను తెరుచుకుంటుంది. అప్పటి నుండి మూడో కన్ను జ్ఞానం మరియు సర్వవ్యాపకత్వం కోసం ఒక చిహ్నంగా మారింది.

అట్టకట్టుకొని ఉన్న జుట్టు సాధారణంగా శుభ్రంగా లేని సంకేతంగా కనిపిస్తుంది. కానీ శివుడి విషయంలో అతను ప్రాపంచిక ఆలోచనలకు మించినదిగా ఉంటుంది. శివుని అట్టకట్టుకొని జుట్టు లేదా ‘జటా’ అందం మరియు పవిత్రమైన ప్రామాణిక నిర్వచనాలకు మించి ఉన్నట్టు చూపిస్తుంది.

తలకోన చిత్తూరు జిల్లా యెర్రావారిపాలెం మండలంలో ఉన్న ఒక ప్రసిద్ధ పర్యాటక కేంద్రం.[1] ఇది ప్రముఖ పర్యాటక కేంద్రంగా విలసిల్లుతోంది. చుట్టూ ఎత్తైన కొండలతో, దట్టమైన అరణ్యప్రాంతం మధ్యలో వెలసిన ఈ జలపాతం నిత్యం పర్యాటకుల రద్దీతో కళకళలాడుతుంటుంది. చిత్తూరు జిల్లాలోని ప్రముఖ పుణ్యక్షేత్రమైన తిరుపతికి దాదాపు 45 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఉండే ఈ జలపాత ప్రదేశం అత్యంత రమణీయ ప్రకృతి ప్రదేశాల్లో ఒకటిగా చెప్పవచ్చు.[2]

ఇది తిరుపతికి 45 కి.మీ దూరంలో శేషాచల కొండల పర్వతశ్రేణుల మధ్యలో ఉంది. ఇక్కడ 60 మీటర్ల ఎత్తు నుండి పడుతున్న జలపాతాలు చాలా అకర్షణీయంగా ఉంటాయి. ఓషధీ లక్షణాలు కల మొక్కలు అనేకం ఉన్నాయి. తలకోనలో ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్ పర్యాటక అభివృద్ధి సంస్థ వారి పున్నమి అతిథి గృహం ఉంది.

The waters of Talakona are enriched with herbs and people believe that it has healing properties. (Pictures of Butterflies & Wild Flowers of Talakona forest). A long and treacherous trekking route leads to the top of the hill, which can be reached by multiple paths. Talakona hills geographically is considered a part of the Eastern Ghats.

There is a beautiful waterfall falling deep into the valley from a cliff on the upper reaches. According to the local residents, it is said that the origin of water is difficult to be traced out since an underground stream surfaces here.

There is a 240 meter long canopy rope walk, about 35 to 40 feet in height, giving a thrilling experience to the visitors while walking. There are mighty trees around with birds and monkeys during the canopy walk. There are number of trek routes in different categories of difficulty, giving an option for the visitor to choose their route.

In the area there is an ancient Siva temple which is flooded with devotees during Sivarathri festival. There are also deep caves scattered over the mountains where it is believed that sages meditate eternally. A stream flows near the canopy walk area where a bathing ghat is under construction.

Accommodation is also available in this dense forest, it gives immense pleasure for visitors to spend time during nights.
