Into the Wild, With Heart.
A soul-refreshing escape to Forsyth Lodge, Madhai
Tucked away in the heart of the Satpura Tiger Reserve, Forsyth Lodge is not just a place to stay—it's a space to truly connect. Over the course of a few days, I found myself immersed in a world where luxury meets the wilderness, and every moment feels intentional, grounded, and deeply enriching.
From the early morning and night jeep safaris to a tranquil boat safari at sunrise, the forest unfolded its magic slowly and soulfully. Each adventure was led by passionate naturalists who didn’t just point out birds or tracks—they told stories that brought the forest to life. Every rustle, chirp, and breeze seemed to whisper something ancient and wild.
One of the most memorable experiences was a serene walking safari, where we learned about local flora, spotted animal tracks, and even foraged ingredients growing naturally in the area. It all came full circle when we tasted those very flavors—fresh from the garden, turned into heartfelt meals by the lodge’s culinary team.
The food deserves its own story.
A standout evening featured “Lost Indian Recipes”—a dinner that felt like a time capsule of India’s forgotten culinary heritage. Each dish was steeped in tradition, surprising and comforting all at once. The highlight? Hari Mirch ka Halwa—a bold, unexpected dessert that somehow made perfect sense.
The lodge itself is a quiet sanctuary—just 12 earth-toned rooms, each with a private sit-out that lets you watch the forest shift from dawn to dusk. For those looking for a more immersive stay, the jungle camps offer a beautiful balance of comfort and wild authenticity.
Another heartwarming evening was spent enjoying a Village Dinner, prepared live by local women using traditional tools and age-old recipes. It wasn’t just a meal—it was a moment of shared culture and genuine connection.
In between safaris and stories, there was time to unwind by the pool, enjoy quiet walks through the property, and just be—surrounded by birdsong, rustling leaves, and a team that made the experience feel personal and warm.
A tip for fellow traveler's:
• Buffer Zone safaris are open all year and are great for spontaneous getaways.
• For Core Zone safaris, book in advance (about 2 months out) for a more exclusive wildlife experience.
Forsyth Lodge isn’t just a getaway—it’s a gentle invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature, tradition, and yourself.
