This scenic World Heritage Site, famously referred to as the "Black Pagoda" has many stories and myths from eons ago. The mystery behind its intricate architecture as well as the various accounts of it's eventual destruction are subject to much discussion. Built by King Narsimhadeva I in 1250 CE, this is an example of the erstwhile glory of the land of Kalinga!

As Rabindranath Tagore once beautifully said, "Here the language of stone surpasses the language of human."

Come immerse yourself in the beauty of Konark Sun Temple, and be witness to the magnificence of this 'Surya Devalaya'.
