He came to Odisha as a traveller. He left with a story about its healthcare. 🩺❤️

American filmmaker Mike fell seriously ill while travelling through rural Odisha and was admitted to a government hospital after vomiting repeatedly for nearly 12 hours.
He received IV fluids, anti-nausea medication and injections and when it was time to leave, he was surprised to find that he wasn’t charged for the treatment.

His experience, shared on social media, has sparked conversations beyond Odisha about the state’s free public healthcare system.

For many of us, government healthcare is something we may have grown up seeing every day. But sometimes, an outsider’s experience reminds us to look at what we have a little differently.

🚨 Dengue cases are rising in Odisha — and Bhubaneswar is at the centre of concern.

Odisha has reported 2,426+ dengue cases in 2026, with Khurda accounting for 1,220 cases. Bhubaneswar alone has recorded 1,164 cases, making the capital a major hotspot.

With 60+ new cases being reported daily on average over the past month, prevention at home and in our neighbourhoods matters.

🪣 Empty & clean water containers regularly
👕 Wear clothing that reduces mosquito exposure
🧴 Use mosquito repellents
🌡️ Seek medical advice if you develop persistent fever or concerning symptoms

Odisha parents, take note! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🩺

Over 1.61 crore children aged 1–19 years across all 30 districts of Odisha are set to receive Albendazole (deworming medicine) as part of the National Deworming Day campaign on August 10. A mop-up round is planned for August 17 for children who miss the first round.

The campaign also includes Vitamin A supplementation for children aged 9–59 months.

📌 Parents & guardians: Keep this date in mind and check with your child’s school, Anganwadi centre or local health worker for the campaign details.
