He came to Odisha as a traveller. He left with a story about its healthcare. 🩺❤️
American filmmaker Mike fell seriously ill while travelling through rural Odisha and was admitted to a government hospital after vomiting repeatedly for nearly 12 hours.
He received IV fluids, anti-nausea medication and injections and when it was time to leave, he was surprised to find that he wasn’t charged for the treatment.
His experience, shared on social media, has sparked conversations beyond Odisha about the state’s free public healthcare system.
For many of us, government healthcare is something we may have grown up seeing every day. But sometimes, an outsider’s experience reminds us to look at what we have a little differently.
