Business centre glitz for city airport soon

Business executives who need to travel to and from Bhubaneswar by air have some news to cheer about.

The new domestic terminal will soon have a multi-purpose business centre that will help executives of top companies to organize meetings and avail secretarial services.

For official meetings, the executives won't have to check in hotels. Once they land at the Biju Parnaik airport, they can have their meetings at the airport conference hall and return from there itself. This is said to be first of its kind in India.

"We are keeping ready five deluxe rooms, a conference hall with a seating capacity of 50 persons and a restaurant, where all varieties of food will be available," said airport director Sharad Kumar, pointing out that the facility is being created to make the airport a preferred destination for business class passengers.

The facility will be available March 14 onwards.

"The kind of facilities the business executives look for in hotels will be available at a cheaper rate here. There will be mini beer bar and sophisticated projector at the conference hall," said an airport official.

The city airport, which is now touched by 16 domestic flights everyday, is expected to impress the business honchos, who come to the city on short business trips and return.

Earlier, the airport opened a modern spa massage centre. The massage centre is located near the security lounge (first floor) of the new terminal. The spa centre offers various kinds of massages.

The authorities are planning to open food stalls for continental and typical Odisha food items. Besides, there would be gift shop, beauty and personal care clinics, books and periodicals and stationery shops. Around 26 different facilities will be available at the new terminal.

Have a 'ball' with new adventure sport in ODISHA

BHUBANESWAR: Your next trip to Puri, Konark and Barkul might involve rolling around in an inflated ball.

The state-run Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) is giving finishing touches to the launch of its maiden adventurous tourist product in collaboration with the National Adventure Foundation (NAF).

The tourism department plans to introduce zorbing, an adventure sport, at some recreational sites. Zorbing is an adventure sport which involved getting into an inflated plastic ball, or orb, which is allowed to roll on the ground or float on water. Initially, to be introduced at Barkul and Konark.

NAF's director (Odisha chapter) Rabindra Kumar Bhuyan said zorbing would first be introduced on plain land.

"Zorbing is more thrilling on water, but it is also exciting when the inflated ball rolls down a hill. But in Odisha, we will go ahead with land zorbing.
