The incident happened around 1:30 am IST when a bus carrying 43 passengers from Mecca to Medina collided with a diesel tanker near a location called Mufrihat.
The severe impact caused both vehicles to catch fire, leading to a high number of fatalities.
Initial reports suggest only one person may have survived the crash. Among the deceased are believed to be 20 women and 11 children from Hyderabad.
