Tezpur, 14th December: Coordination Meeting for Pilot Survey of Kamengbari and Bhalukpong Areas in West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh.

A coordination meeting for the Pilot Survey of Kamengbari and Bhalukpong areas, situated in the West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh, was held today at the DC’s Conference Hall in Tezpur, Assam.

Chaired by Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, DC of Sonitpur, Assam, the meeting saw the presence of Smti Akriti Sagar, IAS, DC West Kameng, Shri Tasso Gambo, ADC Singchung, Shri H.K. Dutta, Director of Border Affairs, GoAP, along with AD Border Affairs Shri Rome Mele and Director cm Nodal Officer, AP Space Application Centre, Kesang Wangda CO, Miki Boje, DLRSO, and other officials from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

During the meeting, the ADC (Border Affairs) provided insights into the historical context of border issues, emphasizing the recommendations of the Regional Committee. He highlighted the challenges and claims preceding the mutually agreed-upon solution proposed by the Regional Committee. Notably, West Kameng shares its borders with Udalguri and Sonitpur districts.

DC West Kameng expressed satisfaction that both states, after extensive discussions, have reached a consensus, foreseeing a positive impact on peace and development in the region. She congratulated the collaborative efforts of teams from Sonitpur, Udalguri, and West Kameng for their role in resolving border issues between Arunachal and Assam.

The Director of Survey of India acknowledged the absence of internet in the survey areas and outlined plans for a pilot survey using modern equipment. In the absence of reliable connectivity, conventional methods may be employed, albeit taking more time.

Despite the potential threat from wildlife in the area, a joint team comprising Survey of India, the state of Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam will commence the pilot survey in Kamengbari from 15th December 2023.

Arvind Pangeng (EAC) will lead the survey in Bhalukpong, while Kesang Wangda, CO will lead the survey in Kamengbari. (DIPRO) MyGov Arunachal PradeshAkriti SagarPema KhanduKiren RijijuArunachal DiprDorjee Wangdi KharmaPhurpa TseringKumsi SidisowDongru Siongju
