Very Heavy Rainfall Warning for Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore - Valparai, Nilgiris - Gudalur, Kanyakumari) areas for 10 days starting from 23rd May to June 3rd. Some places might get over 200 mm (extreme rains) in some of these days in 24 hrs.
Normally these Monsoon surge happen in June but with Twin systems (one in Arabian sea and one in Bay of Bengal) it looks perfect for extreme rains in ghat areas.
As it is a holiday season, the tourists are requested to travel with caution while travelling to hills in the Western Ghats particularly after it has rained a lot.
High Risk are Idukki, Kodagu, Wayanad, Gudalur-Avalanche belt in Nilgiris, Valparai, Chikmagalur hills, Karnataka coastal areas, Udupi, Shimoga hills, Uttar Kannada, North Coastal Kerala, etc.
Kodai, Yercaud, Yelagiri, Sirumalai, Kollihills, Meghamalai are safe to travel.
Chennai will see break in rains and other parts of interior Tamil Nadu will see isolated rains on Friday after that monsoon surge takes places in west coast / ghats leaving less room for convergence other side.
Bangalore with UAC gone, it will see monsoonish showers with clouds from west side.
