“I saw this mysterious village on a postcard when I was a child. Years later, I got the chance to visit. The village is located on the hillside of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, which extend into Turkey. The houses here were very interesting: a roof of one house can be a courtyard for another. Children were playing on their neighbors roofs. On one of the roofs, erbane, a Kurdish instrument, began to play. The rhythm the musicians played dates back thousands of years. Regardless of the harsh winter, the music warmed people’s hearts.”
