Along the scenic BP Koirala Highway connecting eastern Nepal to Kathmandu. This highway was built by the Japanese and is it ever an engineering marvel. The scenery is beautiful, what with the meandering river alongside adorning it even further. One cannot resist the urge to stop every so often and admire the picturesque landscape. It is approximately a 13 hour drive from Siliguri to Kathmandu.

Exploring as we always are in the adjoining hills, we often come across old heritage structures. This is one such place in Tukdah called Bungalow No. 12. It was among several others in the area and in the pre-1947 era, these served as accomodation for British army officers. The former parade ground is now a beautiful flower nursery with a park. When the English were leaving, they auctioned these beautiful bungalows. This particular one is now a heritage homestay.

This is a quaint homestay in a village called Chegra. Located some 2.5 hours away from Siliguri, it is a picturesque locale and Maverick Adventures has a designated camp ground in the vicinity. As soon as the monsoon clouds retreat, we are going to pitch a few tents. We invite outdoor enthusiasts to come on over and indulge in the little joys the cool breeze, the green hills and starry nights offer.
