Temples in Uttarakhand::

Blessing Ranikhet and the area around it is Jhoola Devi Temple. The holy shrine is dedicated to Goddess Durga and has been named as Jhoola Devi because the presiding deity is seen seated on a cradle.

According to locals this temple is 700 years old and the original deity was stolen in 1959. Like Chitai Golu Temple, this temple is also recognized by the number of bells hanging in its premises.

It believed that Jhoola Devi fulfils the wishes of her devotees and after the completion of the wishes; the devotees come here to offer the copper bell. The temple has found great fame amongst Hindu believers, thus it is a place to atleast visit once in Uttarakhand.

--त्रियुगीनारायण मंदिर, जानिए इसकी पौराणिक मान्यतायें--

त्रियुगीनारायण मंदिर को त्रिवुगीनारायण मंदिर से भी जाना जाता है। यह मंदिर अत्यंत प्राचीन हिन्दू मंदिर है जोकि उत्तराखंड के रुद्रप्रयाग जिले के त्रियुगीनारायण गांव में स्थित है। भगवान विष्णु इस मंदिर में माता लक्ष्मी व भूदेवी के साथ विराजमान है।

"त्रियुगीनारायण मंदिर का इतिहास"

माना जाता है शिव-पार्वती का विवाह इसी मंदिर में सम्पन्न हुआ था। भगवान विष्णु ने माता पार्वती के भ्राता होने का कर्तव्य निभाते हुए उनका विवाह संपन्न करवाया। ब्रह्मा जी इस विवाह में पुरोहित थे। इस मंदिर के सामने अग्निकुंड के ही फेरे लेकर शिव-पार्वती का विवाह हुआ था। उस अग्निकुंड में आज भी लौ जलती रहती है। यह लौ शिव-पार्वती विवाह की प्रतीक मानी जाती है, इसलिए इस मंदिर को अखंड धूनी मंदिर भी कहा जाता है। मंदिर के पास ही तीन कुण्ड भी है।

ब्रह्माकुण्ड:- इस कुण्ड में ब्रह्मा जी ने विवाह से पूर्व स्नान किया था व स्नान करने के पश्चात विवाह में प्रस्तुत हुए।

विष्णुकुण्ड:- विवाह से पूर्व विष्णु जी ने इस कुण्ड में स्नान किया था।

रुद्रकुण्ड:- विवाह में उपस्थित होने वाले सभी देवी-देवताओं ने इस कुण्ड में स्नान किया था।

इन सभी कुण्डों में जल का स्रोत सरस्वती कुण्ड को कहा गया है। सरस्वती कुण्ड का निर्माण विष्णु जी की नासिका से हुआ है। माना जाता है कि विवाह के समय भगवान शिव को एक गाय भी भेंट की गई थी, उस गाय को मंदिर में ही एक स्तम्भ पर बांधा गया था।

त्रियुगीनारायण मंदिर की मान्यतायें::

माना जाता है कि त्रियुगीनारायण मंदिर त्रेतायुग से स्थापित है। इस मंदिर में आज भी अग्निकुंड में अग्नि जलती है यहां प्रसाद के रूप में लकड़ियां डाली जाती है इस अग्निकुंड में श्रद्धालु धूनी भी लेकर जाते है ताकि उनके वैवाहिक जीवन मे सदा सुख-शांति बनी रहे।

Temples in Uttarakhand:
Tarkeshwar Mahadev::

At a distance of 37 km from Lansdowne and 69 km from Kotdwar, Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple is an ancient temple situated in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.

Located atop a hill at an elevation of 2092 m, Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple is believed to be one of the ancient holy sites known as Siddha Piths dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the famous temples of Uttarakhand state.

According to the legend, Tarkasur was a demon who meditated and worshiped Lord Shiva at this location for a boon.
Pleased by his devotion, Lord Shiva gave him a boon of immortality as per Tarkasur request except from Lord Shiva's son. Tarkasur started being evil by killing saints and threatening gods. Sages asked for help from Lord Shiva. Disturbed by wrong doings of Tarkasur, Lord Shiva married Parvati and Kartikeya is born.

Kartikeya soon killed Tarkasur but at the time of death Tarkasur makes prayer to Lord Shiva and asked for pardon.

Mahadev then attached his name to the temple where Tarkasur meditated once. Hence the place named as Tarkeshwar Mahadev.
