To help people become self sufficient

Backcountry cooking in India is still evolving.

At Odyssey, we’ve always tried to experiment a bit on every backpacking trip. It hasn’t come to a point where we run the exact same system everywhere, and we actually like it that way.

Our instructors keep trying small changes- new meals, different ways of packing, tweaking quantities and then we see what really works on the ground.
If something works well for the team, feels practical, and people actually enjoy eating it after a long day, that’s what we carry forward. If not, we drop it and try something else on the next trip.

Over the last two years, it has come a long way. We’re in a good place with it now, but it’s still evolving with every trip we run.

Curious to hear from you! if you’ve backpacked on your own, what meals or systems have actually worked well for you? Tell us in the comment.

The snow is melting. The passes are opening. And we’ve been waiting for this since last November.
This season, we’re heading deep into the valleys that don’t show up on Google Maps search results, across passes that ask more of you than you expect, and into the kind of silence that reminds you why you started doing this in the first place.
Seven backpacking treks. One short window. All of them worth it.

Pin Parvati Pass
Bara Banghal
Parang La
Miyar Valley
Ghepan Lake
Kang La (invite only)
Ronti Saddle

Dates are out. Spots are limited.

The 2026 calendar just got better.

We went back in, added some trips, moved some things around and this is what it looks like now. April through September is mapped out. October? That’s a surprise. You’ll see it when it’s time.

A few of these will be led personally by the Odyssey boys:

🔥 Vijeet on Audens Col, Parang La, Pin Parvati, and Bara Banghal.

⛰️ Nithyam on Manaslu Circuit and Rumtse–Tsomoriri (or more?)

🧭 Vivek on Black Peak, Kang Yatse II and he’s still thinking..

And then there’s one that’s not on any list yet, an invite-only backpacking trip. The kind that separates the people who talk about mountains from the people who actually move in them. Led by the Odyssey boys together.

When the email hits your inbox, you’ll know.

If you want a shot at it, DM us your experience level and what you’ve done in the mountains. We’ll go from there.

Comment “Details” and we’ll send you the link to the WhatsApp group, that’s where we share route info, prep tips, gear guidance, and everything else that makes the difference between surviving a trek and actually being ready for it.

You walk through forests, climb higher into snow, and eventually find yourself on a ridge where Annapurna and Dhaulagiri sit right in front of you. Then there’s the hike to Khayer Lake, sitting high in the mountains.

It’s one of those treks where the views keep getting better the higher you go.

Save this for later if Nepal is on your list.

And if you’re curious about this trail, comment KHOPRA and we’ll share the details.

Choosing a trek is not about picking the most popular name on the internet.

It’s about choosing something that fits where you are right now.

Your time.
Your fitness.
Your intent.

Do you want to carry your own backpack and learn through doing?
Do you want a guided experience where you ease into the mountains?
Do you want to walk through villages and understand the culture of a place?

Different treks offer different kinds of days.

There’s no single “right” trek. There’s only the one that makes sense for you.

This is something we spend time understanding before anyone joins us. Not just where you want to go, but why.

If you’re unsure which trek fits you best, comment *TREK* and we’ll help you figure it out.

Backpacking is one way to experience the outdoors.
But it’s not the only way.

Some people love long, self-sufficient trails.
Some prefer shorter treks.
Some just want to climb rock for a weekend.
Some want to slow down and spend time outside without turning it into a test.

We’re not building Odyssey around one activity.

We’re building it around a relationship with the outdoors.

Mountains, forests, trails, rock faces.
However you want to experience it.

If you’re someone who simply enjoys being out there, you don’t have to overthink it.

Comment “ODYSSEY”, We’ll help you figure out where to start.

Layering is not about wearing more clothes.
It’s about wearing the right ones.

A good layering system does three things well:
it moves sweat, traps heat, and blocks wind or rain. When you understand that, you stop carrying “just in case” pieces and start packing with intent.

Small decisions like these save weight. And more importantly, they make long days in the mountains more comfortable.

This is something we go through before every trip. Not as theory, but in practice.

Save this before you start packing for your next trek.

Trekking poles are not accessories.

If you’re using them right, they’re doing real work.

They take load off your knees on descents.
They help you stay steady when the trail gets loose.
They let you move longer without burning out your legs.

But only if you actually use them properly.

Pole height matters.
The strap matters.
Where you place the pole matters.

This is the kind of small skill that changes how a long day feels.

Watch this properly. Try it on your next hike.
And tell us if your knees notice the difference.

India and Nepal share the same range, but the experience shifts the moment you start walking. One might give you long evenings inside tea houses. The other might give you quiet camps and a stove on the ground. One moves through busy classic routes. The other can feel slower and more personal.

Neither is superior. They just ask different things from you.

What matters more is how you want to feel out there. Comfortable and steady. Or a little more self-reliant. Surrounded by trekkers. Or mostly with your own team.

We walk both. And we prepare people for both.

If you’re thinking about one of them, comment INDIA or NEPAL and we’ll help you figure out where you fit right now.
