There are many ways to plan a trip to Ladakh, but flight is one of the best ways to get there. There are a variety of flights to Ladakh, both during and outside of the tourist season.   The primary airport in the region is Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport. Located in Leh, this is the nearest airport with a lot of flights from Delhi, Jammu, Srinagar, Chandigarh and other Indian cities.

Some of you are eagerly anticipating your bike or road journey to Ladakh. The finest way to experience Ladakh's natural splendour is on a bike ride. You'll never forget the experience of riding across the breathtaking scenery of the region. Srinagar to Leh and Manali to Leh are the two main routes to Ladakh from Kashmir and Manali, respectively.

Route 1: Srinagar to Leh
If you are travelling from Srinagar then you will be covering a distance of 434 kms, this trip lets you understand the true majesty of Mother Nature’s creations.

According to the Kedarkantha legend, Lord Shiva sat at the summit to meditate but was disturbed by a bull, which was running below. So he went to Kedarnath, a town in Uttarakhand, to meditate afterwards.

Another local myth relates to the Pandavas, who went to the Himalayas to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings. However, he hid from Bheem and disguised himself as a bull. But, Bheem recognised him and went after him. So Shiva hid underground. When he rushed out from his hiding place, he let his body parts get divided, and each part fell at a different place. His throat fell on the Kedarkantha, thus earning the peak its name- transliteration- “the throat of Lord Shiva”.
