The Jewel of Jaipur: Jal Mahal

Standing majestically in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, Jal Mahal, meaning “Water Palace,” is a captivating landmark in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Built in the 1750s by Maharaja Madho Singh I, this five-storied structure was originally intended as a hunting lodge and leisure retreat.

During the monsoon season, when the lake fills up, four of the five stories remain submerged, creating the illusion of a palace floating on water. The remaining top floor, adorned with intricate red sandstone carvings and white marble chhatris (domed kiosks), offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
