In the Sangla valley, there is a village situated, named Kamru. In Himachal Pradesh, district Kinnaur. It is located around 2900 m above sea level.
The village was once the capital of the Bashar principate, it is still an ancient capital. At its highest point, there is a fort which is like a tower; it is mainly famous because of that fort. The fort was made thousands of years ago by Lord Badrinath. There are around 33 crore Gods and Goddesses present inside the fort. Inside the campus of the fort, there is also a Kamakhya Devi shrine present, which was brought several years ago. From Sangla, the tourist town, it is almost 2 kms away.
The Kamru Fort, Sangla has a stunning wooden balcony, and on the building’s top, there is a Kamakhya Devi idol that no one should miss. The idol has been brought from the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati. The people of the Sangla village find great importance in the idol. In the Kamru fort, Sangla there is also a temple of Badrinath, which now serves as a location for organizing a fair, once in every three years to remember the deity and in its honor. In the fair’s procession, the idol is taken to Gangotri, in the origin of River Ganges.
This amazing fort is covered by snow-capped mountains, lush green fields, and dense forests and also, adorned with stunning wooden carvings. There is a stone platform of 55 square feet on which the Kamru Fort stands.
