Natives also dress up in lovely traditional attires and gather in the courtyard of Hemis monastery, the biggest Buddhist Monastery of Ladakh. Lamas dance around central flagpole to the tunes of drums, cymbals and long horns. The otherwise cold-barren desert comes to life during Hemis Festival.

Apart from cattle and camel trading, the Pushkar Camel Fair in parallel holds a festival of folk music and dances, Ferris wheels, magic shows, cultural events and competitions like Tug of War- competitions for women teams and men teams, Bridal competition, Rajasthani Group Dance, Camel Race, Camel Decoration (Gorband), Camel Dance Competition, Wrestling Competition, Matka Race for women etc. There are many Indian sports competitions (e.g. Kabadi) where locals play against visitors (mainly tourists). The environment of Pushkar becomes colorful and vibrant during the fair as many tourist visits to experience the cultural heritage of Rajasthan.

Jaipur Literature Festival is an annual event and draws more than 1, 00,000 writers around the globe to embark the “Power of Literature”.
