SUB: India Group Tour from 16 Jul - 02 Aug 2017
Hope all is well. Here is some feedback from the group and from me regarding the trip.
Everyone felt that the trip was wonderful and that it went very smoothly. The Mech Journey representatives at every place we visited were great - punctual, and were at the airport waiting for our arrival along with the coach. During departure they waited until our baggage was checked and we had gone through security, except for the representative in Mumbai. I did not see much of him nor did he speak much. He went to the airport hotel to drop off two of our group members and we never saw him again. Also I have to mention the condition of the coach in
Mumbai - Not like other cities, and comparatively sub standard services.
Drivers: Mr. Rajkumar in the north and Mr. Bipin in the south were excellent drivers. Mr. Rajkumar was polite and kept his respectful distance. but Mr. Bipin in the South was very friendly, polite, helpful with a big smile on his face and ready to stop the coach at a comfort stop or for tea or for whatever we needed. So was his assistant. The train ride from Ooty to Coonoor was very good and everyone enjoyed it very much, but in my opinion, the bus ride to Cochin from Coonoor was very long and tiring. I just wish there was another way to travel other than another flight. A train ride would be great but the toilets are not worth even mentioning.
Hotels: Of course the Oberoi and the Taj hotels are the best where the food and service is excellent. Kumarakom Lake Resort is also a very special place with ayurvedic messages, pottery and weaving classes, sunset cruises, and of course delicious food. I also want to mention Blue Jelly houseboat which was very clean, excellent service and food, and Rose who supervised it all. The one hotel that we had problems with was the Savoy in Ooty where some rooms had no hot water and no flushing toilets, etc. I would not recommend hotel Savoy again
Guides:Mr. Adil Ali is an excellent guide who is very knowledgeable about the history and culture of India, and also of the various religions that exist in India today. We enjoyed his presentations very much. The guide in Ooty was also knowledgeable but his English was not good so he had a hard time understanding and explaining things. Cochin guide was good and quite confident of himself.
Mr. Dimri,I want to thank you and the Mech Journeys crew for looking after us every step of the way, and making sure that our journey went smoothly. Your call every evening to me to see how the day had gone and if there were any concerns/problems that you could fix meant a lot to us We felt safe knowing you were there and that we could call you with any problems that we faced. You looked into every detail, called the hotels ahead of our arrival and you communicated with them making sure that our rooms were ready for us. This is what makes you stand out in comparison with other companies. I appreciate all that you have done for us and I know that if I do bring another group of friends to India for sightseeing, I will definitely depend on MecJourneys to help me with our travel plans.
