What made the evening special was not just the occasion, but the experience itself.

An 11-course tasting menu, beautifully presented, thoughtfully curated, and full of flavour, with every course feeling like its own small story.

From the first bites to the final sweetness, the dinner was a wonderful reminder that the best celebrations are often the ones built around good food, good conversations, and gratitude for the moments that stay with us.

ANTARCTICA, RESERVED FOR THE FEW

Most travellers reach Antarctica by sea. White Desert offers something far rarer: flying by specially chartered aircraft from Cape Town directly into the continent’s interior.

At Echo Base, just six space-inspired pods are custom built for each Antarctic season. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame an endless landscape of ice, while heated interiors, private en-suite bathrooms, refined dining and highly personalised service bring exceptional comfort to one of the most remote places on Earth.

On selected departures in December 2026 and January 2027, White Desert’s South Pole & Penguins journey combines two extraordinary experiences: reaching a remote emperor penguin colony and standing at the Geographic South Pole visited by fewer than 500 people each year where every direction leads north.

Today, we celebrate Monika Singh Rawat completing 10 years with Experiential Travel Journeys.

Monika and I first worked together in the Private Travel division at Abercrombie & Kent. After I left A&K and established Experiential Travel Journeys, our professional paths came together again when she joined ETJ in 2016.

A passionate traveller herself, Monika brings a deep understanding of experiential luxury travel to every journey she designs. Her knowledge is complemented by an exceptional attention to detail and the ability to understand not only where her clients wish to travel, but also how they want to experience a destination.

Her thoughtful communication, patience and ability to listen carefully have helped her understand the individual needs, preferences and expectations of each traveller.

Over the years, this has enabled her to build deep, trusted and long-standing relationships with her clients many of whom continue to return to her for their journeys around the world.

As a Director and Private Travel Designer, Monika is an integral part of the ETJ story and has contributed meaningfully to shaping what we are today.

Building a company is a journey in itself, and the people who choose to walk alongside you for so much of that journey make it truly meaningful.

What happens when an African art collection becomes a safari lodge?

Laba Grumeti Art Lodge.

Owners Xavier Marie and Julie Brisson were captivated by South African artist Zizipho Poswa’s sculptural totems. Their passion grew into a private collection of 42 works by 10 African artists and ultimately into a newly inaugurated lodge where art is not an added layer of decoration, but the soul of the experience.

Set on a secluded hilltop in the Western Serengeti, overlooks vast plains crossed by the Great Migration. The herds generally move through this region from May to July, with late May and June often especially rewarding, although rainfall always determines the exact timing.

Beyond the migration, resident wildlife makes this a compelling year round big game safari destination.

Its architecture delivers the best of both worlds. A dramatic stone lodge with monumental carved doors provides contemporary comfort, while 12 expansive tented suites preserve the spirit of a traditional African safari.

You enjoy privacy, thoughtful design, a spa and pool yet still wake beneath canvas, connected to the sounds, light and immense space of the Serengeti rather than feeling enclosed in a conventional hotel.

This is the Laba Laba “Slow Safari” philosophy expressed through place: private, unhurried, authentic and respectful of nature. Art, craftsmanship and wilderness coexist without one overpowering the other.
