Day 5th NYALAM TO DONGBA
Today, you should drive an extensive distance to reach New Dongba( 4600 m.). On the way, you will be passing through Peikucho Lake, Ganesh Parvat and the River Brahmhaputra. Also, you will be passing through a couple of other high passes.

Nyalam to New Dongba: 360 km .
Driving hours: 6 – 7 hrs .

Day 6th DONGBA TO LAKE MANASAROVAR (4550 M )
Today we will drive to lake Manasarovar and stay in bank of mansarover .On the way, we will be passing through Paryang town and Mayum-La pass ( 5200 m.). This is the highest motorable pass in this journey.
Accommodation: Guest house – very basic room.
New Dongba to Lake Manasarovar: 550 km.
Driving hours: 6 – 7 hrs.
Altitude: 4550 m.

Day 7th LAKE MANASAROVAR TO DARCHEN (4663 M )
Morning Pooja, holy bath at Mansarovar. After lunch, drive to Darchen. While going to Darchen, we will make a clockwise parikrama of Lake Manasarovar. The drive takes about 1 & half hours.
Accommodation: Darchen Guesthouse ( dormitory room ).
Lake Mansarovar to Darchen: 55 km .
Driving hours: 1.5 hours .
Altitude: 4680 m.

Day 8th DRIVE TO YAMA DWAR THEN START PARIKRAMA .
Drive to Yama Dwar then start Parikrama. The drive from Darchen to Yama Dwar, takes about 45 minutes. Our Yaks & yak men will meet you here. We will load all logistics on Yaks then start the journey.
PASSENGERS WHO ARE GOING PARIKRAMA :
After loading all logistic on Yaks, you will start your journey. Today, you will have to walk about 5 – 6 hrs( 12Kms ) to reach Diraphuk.

This is the highest Pass (5600 m.) that you will cross on this journey – from Dolma pass, you will trek down to the valley-floor.Just right after the pass, you can see a beautiful but tiny lake on the right hand side – this is GauriKunda. From Dolma Pass, you have to trek another 4 hours to reach Zutulphuk. Please make you mind up, this is the toughest and longest day in parikrama.

THE MOST EXOTIC PALACE.

Can you imagine a huge hall, 50 metres long and about 15 meters wide, held up without any external support like pillars or beams?

Well, someone had given wings to imagination and constructed the Bara Imambara, also known as the Gravity Defying Palace at Lucknow, which houses this hall.

A little bit about the Gravity Defying Palace at Lucknow

The Gravity Defying Palace at Lucknow is the Bara Imambara – bara meaning big and imambarameaning a shrine. It was built by the fourth Nawab, Barak Imambara Asaf-ud-Daula, in the year 1784 and is a blend of Arabic and European architecture. The surrounding of the palace also includes a mosque and a step-well – bowli. The palace, housing the tombs of Asaf-ud-Daula and his family, is also believed to hold riches. This is one of the most significant monuments in Uttar Pradesh.

What is special about this palace is the central hall, which as described above, is about 50 metres long and 15 metres wide, and is suspended without any pillars or beams supporting it. The hall has been constructed only through interlocking brickwork. There are eight chambers of different roof-heights surrounding the hall. What makes it even more interesting is the whispering sounds that one encounters in the balcony across the hall. This is one of the largest arched constructions in the world.

Bhul Bhullaiya

While one is marveling about this amazing architecture, the visitor is treated to another wonder, that is a maze like structure called Bhul Bhullaiya situated on the first floor of the palace. This is actually a three-dimensional labyrinth constructed in the space permitted by the eight chambers surrounding the main hall. Made with more than 1,000 complex passages, the maze leads one to a dead end or to surprising entry and exit points. Meant to have kept away intruders, this may be the only maze that has been constructed unintentionally while erecting structures to hold the weight of a building constructed in a marshy area.

Blocked tunnels

It is also believed that there are blocked tunnels which lead to various locations like Faizabad, Allahabad and Delhi. These passages have been sealed for quite some time as people have reportedly gone missing while exploring the tunnels.

Construction of Gravity Defying Palace at Lucknow

History has it that the Nawab had conceived the construction of this monument to generate employment to counter a devastating famine that had hit the region. The construction employed about 22,000 people. It is rumoured that while ordinary people worked during the day at the construction site, noble men and courtiers, to make ends meet, worked in the nights so that they would not be identified. Approximately about a million rupees is supposed to have been spent in the construction of this palace, and its annual maintenance amounted to about five hundred thousand rupees.

You can visit this palace in Lucknow any time of the year. The only aspect you have to keep in mind is to have a good guide when you are exploring the palace because it is very easy to get lost in the labyrinth.
