STAINED GLASS

Stained Glass can be referred to as Coloured Glass. Over the years, the term stained glass was used colourful glass panels in churches, mosques and other significant buildings. They generally depict stories and images of the gods.

Stained glass can be described as coloured glass fixed between lead frames. Earlier, they were made as flat panels and then used as windows or wall panels. In the modern times, 3D stained glass models are also being made by various artists.

The two images are stained glass work from Rajabai Clock Tower in Mumbai. it is also known as the Big Ben of India and is situated in South Mumbai.

TANJORE PAINTINGS.

The Tanjore Painting is one of the most famous form of painting in Southern India. It is a native form of Thanjavur also known as Tanjore.

There are numerous steps involved in making this painting.
1. Drawing the preliminary sketch on the base. The base is made of cloth that is pasted on a wooden base.
2. Mixing chalk powder or Zinc Oxide with a water soluble adhesive and applying it on the base to give the painting dimension.
3. The final drawing is made. The first things to be stuck on the drawing are semi precious stones, pearls and cut glass.
4. Thin sheets of 24 carat gold are then pasted on some parts of the painting to give it a rich effect.
5. The other areas, like the clothes are painted with bright colours.

These are mainly paintings of the gods and goddesses. A lot of time and precision is required to make these paintings.

SIDDI SAIYED NI JALI

The Siddi Saiyed Mosque is situated in the heart of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Siddi saiyed who used to work under Sultan Ahmed Shah was the one who built this mosque in 1573. This mosque became famous for its latticework windows known as Jaali(s).

Later , the britishers extracted one of the Central Jaalis and took it with them to display it at a museum. This jaali is now the logo to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

The government of Gujarat has now started preserving all the monuments and ancient architecture throughout the state. Ahmedabad was recently declared as a "Heritage city" by UNESCO.

MUMBAI'S TERMINAL 2 IS A WORK OF ART.

Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai's Terminal 2 is inspired by the White Peacock. It's light fixtures are shaped like a blooming lotus.

The art wall features art curated from all over the country. It tells a story in six sections:
India Moves
India Greets
India Elemental
India Global
India Silent Sentinals
India Seamless

Mumbai's International Airport is considered one of the most beautifully created airport throughout the world.

MATRIMANDIR at AUROVILLE, PUDUCHERRY.

AUROVILLE was built on a concept of unity and peace. A universal town where all men and women live in peace and harmony above all creeds, politics and nationalities. This plan was put forward by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.

The MATRIMANDIR is a dome plated with 24 carat gold on the outside. this dome is made only for those who are willing to sincerely give their time to concentration and meditation.

As per models and earlier plans this dome was supposed to be made at the center of AUROVILLE but this was chnaged because of a banyan tree that was already present at the center.
Now, MATRIMANDIR is placed a little off- center near the banyan tree. this decision was made by The Mother. This banyan tree is NOT the largest in AUROVILLE.
