🌴 KERALA — GOD'S OWN COUNTRY | Your Complete Travel Guide
At Incredible Indian Tours, Kerala is one of our most requested destinations — and every single traveller who goes comes back transformed. Here is everything you need to know.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🍃 MUNNAR — THE EMERALD HIGHLAND
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Munnar sits at 1,600 metres in the Western Ghats — a breathtaking highland covered entirely in bright green tea gardens. The air here is fresh, cool and smells permanently of tea. The rolling hills, the morning mist in the valleys, the colourful tea pluckers at work — it is one of the most visually stunning landscapes in all of India.
Must do: Eravikulam National Park — home of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr mountain goat. Top Station — highest point in Munnar with panoramic views. Tea Museum — learn how tea is processed from leaf to cup.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🏠 ALLEPPEY — BACKWATER PARADISE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Kerala's famous backwaters are a network of 900 km of lagoons, lakes, rivers and canals. A traditional kettuvallam houseboat with private bedroom, kitchen and deck is the most romantic and unique way to experience this. Drift past rice paddies, toddy shops, fishing villages and coconut groves at the pace of the water itself.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🐘 THEKKADY — WILDLIFE IN THE WESTERN GHATS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary — one of India's finest. A peaceful boat safari on Periyar Lake with wild elephants coming to the water's edge, gaur bison on the shore, otters in the water. Jungle walks and bamboo rafting also available.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🏛️ FORT KOCHI — CULTURAL MELTING POT
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Kerala's most fascinating cultural destination. Colonial-era Portuguese, Dutch and British architecture. Chinese fishing nets — the iconic symbol of Kochi — operated manually on the waterfront since the 14th century. Mattancherry Palace, Jewish Synagogue, spice markets. A beautifully walkable neighbourhood unlike any other in India.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🏖️ KOVALAM & VARKALA BEACHES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Kerala's beaches are different — backed by cliffs and coconut palms rather than flat sand. Kovalam has three crescent beaches. Varkala has a stunning clifftop promenade over the sea. Both are known for Ayurveda resorts and fresh seafood.
