TAT Taps into the Indian Golf Market, Co-hosts Corporate Golf Tournament to Attract High-Quality Golfers to Thailand

On May 29, 2026, Mrs. Pattasee Permwongsenee, Executive Director of the ASEAN, South Asia, and South Pacific Region for the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), met with golf operators and travel agencies from India. She also had the honor of presenting awards to the winners of the Corporate Golf tournament, which was held under the "Amazing Thailand Paradise for Sport Lovers" project.
The event was organized by the TAT New Delhi Office in collaboration with Rishi Narain Golf Management Pvt. Ltd. to conduct golf sales and marketing activities (Joint Promotion) in Thailand. The initiative aims to target high-quality golfers and business professionals from India through public relations campaigns and the presentation of golf packages in Thailand, running from May 1 to June 15, 2026.
Additionally, a special golf tournament, the Chola World Corporate Golf Challenge, was held at the Nikanti Golf Club in Nakhon Pathom province from May 27 to 30, 2026. A total of 50 golfers from India participated in the event.
This project plays a crucial role in promoting Thailand as a high-quality Golf Destination. It also helps stimulate sports tourism, generates revenue for the tourism sector, and fosters good, long-term relations between Thailand and India. Each year, approximately 25,000 Indian golfers travel to play golf in Thailand, with popular destinations for golfing and leisure including Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, and Chiang Mai.

😍The Golden Backlot😍

From the mist-shrouded limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay to the neon-drenched arteries of Bangkok, Thailand has long served as a chameleon for the global film industry. It is a land where the landscape itself is a character, capable of portraying anything from an untouched prehistoric paradise to a gritty, thrilling urban adventure. As the “Land of Smiles” improves its infrastructure and financial incentives, it has secured its position not just as a scenic backdrop but as a world-class production hub.

A Cinematic Chameleon: Iconic Locations
The history of international cinema in Thailand is as diverse as the country’s geography. Perhaps the most iconic instance of Thai scenery capturing the global imagination was in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). Khao Phing Kan, now globally recognized as James Bond Island, transformed the quiet waters of Phang Nga into a high-stakes lair. Decades later, Danny Boyle’s The Beach (2000) turned Maya Bay on Ko Phi Phi Le into the ultimate symbol of bohemian escapism. It sparked a tourism phenomenon that redefined the island’s future.

However, Thailand’s versatility extends far beyond its shores. The dense emerald jungles of Kanchanaburi and Northern Thailand have often stood in for Vietnam in war epics like The Deer Hunter and Casualties of War. Bangkok’s unique blend of colonial architecture, modern skyscrapers, and chaotic street life has made it the go-to location for high-octane blockbusters. Whether it’s the high-society antics of The Hangover Part II or the astounding atmospheric recreation of Saigon in Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), the city provides a visual texture impossible to replicate on a studio lot. The sci-fi movie also utilized locations in 15 provinces beyond the capital.

👍Top-Grossing Foreign Films Filmed in Thailand:
👉The Beach (2000) – Firmly putting southern Thailand on every set-jetting itinerary
👉The Hangover Part II (2011) – The highest-grossing R-rated comedy of its time
👉The Impossible (2012) – Recreating the 2004 tsunami in Khao Lak
👉Lost in Thailand (2012) – A massive Chinese blockbuster that sparked a tourism boom

Thailand steps up national drive to improve tourism safety and quality standards

Bangkok, 25 May 2026 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is aligning Trusted Thailand with the country’s national drive to improve tourism safety, raise service standards, and strengthen traveller confidence, as government agencies intensify coordinated action against unlawful tourism operators.

The direction follows a national security policy workshop chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul at Government House on 21 May 2026. The meeting set a clearer framework for cross-agency cooperation, with safety, transparency, and quality placed at the centre of Thailand’s tourism and economic development.

Under this approach, the Ministry of Interior, the Royal Thai Police, the Ministry of Justice, and national security agencies are working with local administrative bodies, provincial governors, and regional police commanders to improve prevention, intelligence sharing, and operational response. Technology and data systems are being used to support risk monitoring and safety management in tourism cities, high-risk areas, and key economic districts.
